It is a damn disaster... the VWS use it for information but now most members are looking for something else because the current setup just does NOT work.
thats bad i can navigate difficult sites but i wonder about the average person who just is learning or is not very computer literate thats just stupid!!
I ask the question why do companies not do their research and not test their sites?
I think it's quite informative. It does work well and it displays detailed weather information on graphical maps with animation. Impressive features, but they could work on the design. They are still working on the interface, I've seen a few changes in the past 2 weeks or so.
The content, once you manage to get there is good and useful, but the buttons are a bitch to use. Seems to be a case of the graphics taking precedence over functionality which to my mind is a really bad design criterion.
It's not that I like the ugly... I just like the functionality and a couple of other things. Sure, it could be prettier but it's not exactly an eye-sore.
I agree that the menu is aweful and the popup description for each menu item is intrusive, but the actual map is pretty cool. Being able to zoom in to the point that you want the weather for, even if you don't know the name of the area or the closest town is very beneficial. Also having the 7 day forcast without having to log in is nice.
I think the menu needs a redesign, a more intuitive zoom control is needed and the popup over the map with the 7d/48h/tide/sms menu doesn't work well at all (it lingers for too long and is quite bulky).
The site isn't great, but the idea can be improved to make it awesome.
