Car for my daughter (new driver)

Yea.. one pomp later and you're stuck with the possible dud of a no-show father and an extra kid to raise.. rather get her the car
 
Best thing you can do is buy an old reliable car and allow her to make her mistakes (scratching,bumping etc.) so that you don't worry about how she damages a new car.

I told my daughter the same thing... I'll buy her any car she wants 1 year after she spins around with an etios.

My son did the same thing and 1 year later he learnt from his mistakes and is now taking care of his new car like a baby.

Maybe you and your family don't really worry about keeping cars in new condition, so I guess you could just buy a new car right now, then that's OK as well.

Toyota and Honda are always first choice when it comes to reliability etc.

A new car for an inexperienced driver is irrational.

Buy a 2 year old Mazda 2. They seem to depreciate quite quickly. Keep the rest of the cash for ding repairs.

It’s “her”

Due to the fact that life is short with this covid thingy, I decided to upgrade my options and got her this for her 19th birthday.

Seriously check out the Hyundai i10 Grand. Somebody else recommended it here, and I think it'd be a super solid option in that bracket.

Grand i10 is a brilliant car, also that 7year 200k warranty gives you some peace of mind

Thanks. It’s basically a VW Polo TSI in a fancy suit.

The original plan was a Mazda 2 but I managed to score a huge discount on the Audi so the price difference between the them was around 65k so I took the Audi.

Far fewer features that the Mazda2 but build quality is so much better on the Audi

That 65k decision is going to skew the perception of reality for your kid when the time comes that daddy cant buy the car for her anymore.

Unless she's a trustfund kid then wont matter what she has to spend on a car herself in the future.

When she completes her degree and she earns 200k per month, I’m sure she can buy herself a much better car
