3G/HSPA/LTE Routers

Hi guys. New Huawei modems E3131, E3231, E3256 have HiLink dialing. I read, it is dialing from Web page. It could use NDIS interface, or autostart Web page from CD device. If you have experience with HiLink, please post your how it works with routers.

not the TP-Link 3220 or 3420 ver1, as it is not all that compatible and regularly hangs with that modem
 
sorry, I don't know - the K4505Z is not a very popular modem AFAIK
 
I saw an E1820 on BidorBuy auction ending 7Nov with present price of R240 - the E1820 works well with the TP-LINK 3420/3220 and you get a discount from Uniterm for being a MyBB member - total cost (modem+router) would be below R800
 
Eish what's with all the spam in this thread?

Can anyone recommend a router for a small business that wants to get a backup internet connection? One of the requirements is that there needs to be a notification when the ADSL is down (ie. on failover). Ideally it would just be one router, as opposed to having to run something else to manage switching between ADSL/3G. Does not need to have any wifi capabilities because it just needs to be the "wan" connection on the firewall.

Hi Rorz0r

The TP-LINK TD-W8968 ADSL router has a USB port and we've tested it with 3G USB modems and it works so you could use this as a single device.

As for the notification, you could use some sort of SNMP monitoring with email / SMS notification to let you know when the primary link goes down.

You can also look at the draytek vigor 28xx range has ADSL with USB. You could probably also use the mikrotik RB750UP/751 but will have to add a ADSL modem. It will drive PPP. RB has scripting support so you may be able to roll your own alerts.
 
Hi, I'm looking for some assistance please. I have the ZTE MF668 and a Zyxel NBG4115. The MF668 does appear on their compatibility list for the NBG4115 and when it is connected it detects the device and shows a 3G connection but says sim is not ready (see attached screenshot). I have updated drivers for both devices and tried different sim cards in the modem. The modem is not faulty as it works perfectly when plugged directly into my pc. I am using the following settings on the router
APN: internet
Dial: *99#

I have e-mailed Zyxel support but no response as yet.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

make sure data sim has no password/pin and that you have the latest firmware http://www.zyxel.com/za/en/support/download_library/product/nbg4115_10.shtml

Hi, has anyone used the Huawei d105 router? If so, what has your experience been? Because Im considering getting it

Also, will using a router slow down upload/ download speeds compared to using a modem directly? Im asking this because my pc is situated in a bad reception spot so I intend on placing the router in another location and connect to it wirelessly... i dont know if it will make a difference
