Hi All

Hope there isn't a thread already open for this.

I have 4MB account with Afrihost, on speed test I'm getting 0.3 MB download and I normally get around 3.8 MB.

Is anybody else experiencing similar issues?

Regards

Have had some shake performance in the Pretoria East area. There has been a lot of weather around though, so I assumed that that was perhaps a contributing factor.

Nope. Busy streaming and browsing no problems.

Pta East mine also cr@p getting 1.3-1.4 off 4MB Telscum.
Same as yesterday.

I guess we can safely say that this is an individual problem on the last mile for bal1981 and gregmcc. The answer for both is phone 10120 (or was that 10210?) and complain at Telclowns. You must know that in 99% of problems Telscum is the culprit, not the various ISPs. Most ISPs aren't even real ISPs but just resellers of other networks. They don't even possess the ability to influence your connection that badly. Not under normal circumstances.
You could be throttled if you reach the threshold but that isn't easy on the new uncapped accounts.

Thanks for all the responses, still struggling but will phone the almighty tel-monopoly and see what they say.

We're not experiencing any general issues, so please PM me so I can investigate any individual issues.

This is a crappy time for cable infrastructure - all the rain, plus hot and cold fluctuations. Lots of outtages reported on SAIX as far as I can see.

Cape Town - Durbanville Area

Got very high pings over the weekend on my 2Mb uncapped, couldn't touch online gameplay. Seems to be resolved now, contacted Afrihost support earlier, will have to test when I get home tonight!

I've had horrible speeds all day everyday this month during business hours only :(

Line fixed! Running actually better now, thanks Afrihost!

Yesterday and today only getting half my line speed on a 1Mbps. So cannot watch youtube 360p without buffering.
If it continues will log a ticket.

We are in Stellenbosch, 4mb. it's been struggling the last few hours. But saw a telkom van at the exchange earlier so assume it's related to that

same here Fox1, also just during business hours, switching to another ISP account resolves the issue, Afrihost Tech support has been very disappointing since I logged the ticket on the 7th with them...
Im in PTA - Centurion, but a few people I know are also experiencing just under half line speed in PTA East as well...

havent had a chance to do test today and swop between accounts etc remotely, will give feedback a bit later :)

@vaalpens
Had the same issue with 50% speeds. They could not resolve it so I resolved the issue in its entirety.

hmmm im so confused now, Afrihost tech support tells me I have call telkom to reset the adsl port, i call telkom, and they tell me to call afrihost to reset the port....

adsl line is not bundled with afrihost :(
