Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE-A Thread

Hi @Afrigirl

I’ve sent a dm but would like to find out if data is transferable from a Telkom Fixed LTE via Afrihost to another Telkom number

Does it work the same as a direct from Telkom package ?

(There’s no thread for Afrihost Telkom LTE)

Also If I want to upgrade my package to 180GB, I assume along as it is done before 1st it will apply?

In case I cannot go to site, is it possible to try that internally for the USSD data transfer?

Telkom LTE upgrades are not immediate, it will be effective after a month.

It's an MTN requirement sadly, but yes, it's an absolute joke. Can someone at Afrihost - @Afrigirl @AfriGuy @AfriNatic shed any light on these draconian requirements that make zero sense? Is it pure laziness on MTN's part or something nefarious or something else - maybe they just don't have the support capes to take on different hardware?

Those supported routers are LTE CAT6 with carrier aggregation and above, basically they want you to have the best connection possible. MTN dont want you to have a sub par internet experience on their fixed LTE deals.

I got a 20mbs uncapped fixed LTE MTN package for the holiday home.
There is fokoll other signal at that spot. Nothing else works. I have bought sims from all providers and rica'd them to moer and gone. Nothing worked.

The only one that worked ok was a prepaid MTN sim. So I took the chance and ordered the 20mb uncapped fixed one. I have had 4-5 devices streaming with no issues. Apparently, there is a 100gb FUP. Apparently. I donno.

5 Years later - and I stepped into the same poo...oodle.

Good day <>,

I hope all is well with you. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

When checking you are using TP-Link MR6400 and the supported device TP-Link MR600. You need to insert the sim card in a supported device.

Kind regards,

Pure Internet Joy!

Just cancelled everything with afrihost. I'm done asking permission to be a client.
There is one with Mikrotik which has LTE+ / Advanced / link aggregation:

And at least it also is customisable and pretty fast - ARM64 quad core, enough storage and RAM to last several years, even if you stop using it for LTE

Slower speeds even than earlier

Afrihost MTN Pure LTE very slow today.

Paying for 50Mbps, not getting it today

MTN Pure LTE it's not good from January 2025 l have been facing some issues.
During the day l get 8mbps after 11pm 50Mbps.

Problems started while I'm with Axxess and l was paying R799 then l canceled it, move to Afrihost paying R950 same issues.
It's my second month with Afrihost but l canceled already because l can't game online l can't stream anymore and I'm paying R950.

The problem l don't think it's Afrihost or Axxess but MTN.
I'm done with MTN gonna try vodacom.

My speedtest with Afrihost and I'm paying R950

This Seems to Be happening with quite a few providers. I'm on axxess and have this issue. Another member is on cool ideas and has the same issue. Now afrihost added to the list.

March I was getting 50Mbps
April I was getting 50Mbps
May I was getting 50Mbps

Any time of the day.

Now June, I get half that.

April: https://www.speedtest.net/result/a/10791826929
May: https://www.speedtest.net/result/a/10879228192

But don't bother posting Speedtest results - Afrigirl can't see them because the Afrihost office blocks Speedtest.net

It is working now, and you are welcome to send screenshots; it doesn't have to be the results link.
