Afrihost negative feedback thread

This. When a forum is moderated and controlled to the point where forumites can't raise their opinions or valid concerns for fear of bannefication, the forum (and probably the site if these actions are commercially inspired) is on it's way out.

Remember when myBroadband forums were about members experience with their broadband?

I questioned RPM on this but received no response. I specifically questioned why users are being barred from AfriHost threads when the same thing didn't happen to Mweb, OpenWeb or WebAfrica. The average WebAfrica thread is ten times worse than what AfriHost had to endure the last two weeks. Anyone remember when OpenWeb's CEO and reps were (quite literally) chased away from this forum, not once but twice?

What makes AfriHost so special?

You know what would appease and silence the numerous unhappy AH (ex)clients?

A simple "yes, we messed up. we oversubscribed, throttled when we said we wouldn't and wasted people's time stalling with endless tests while taking their money knowing full well what the issues were and that we could not deliver the service we were charging for"

After a proper apology we can start building trust and confidence again.

oh, and for Gian to stop spamming even though I have unsubscribed numerous times would be nice too.

Give this man a Bell's

So seeing as RPM doesn't allow us to post our negative feedback in the AfriHost feedback thread anymore, this will have to do I guess. I'll point out that this is not a courtesy that was extended to MWeb, OpenWeb or WebAfrica, all three of whose forum reps regularly took/still take a beating from forum members.

So, about those Youtube streaming issues?

Deary me, you are still at it

MickeyD, any chance you can clean this up? These people asked that we don't post in the AfriHost thread and now they're coming here and derailing this thread.

Would appreciate if we can get back on topic.

+1

Why do you need someone else to clean up your mess? No one said you should post anywhere. You felt obligated too, for some reason.

Go back to your safe space thread. You got your way.

Shame. We'll entitle your biography "AfriHost: The Long Wait For YouTube".

dude honestly, i refrained from saying this, but the way you addressed the reps were not right. That is the reason they have taken a step back. You constantly took aim at them, when in fact they were just there to try and assist. You said it yourself, you dont want to do tests, and you dont want help from other forum members. So what exactly did you expect? You took aim at me and Rickster as well, and a few others, and then when we hit back, you tried to cry wolf. You are not the only one who has had issues, many left, and many who still have issues still engage with the reps, but in a respectable manner. All you have been doing is bashing them post after post.

Firstly it bothers me that someone gets told they are not allowed to complain in an ISP's thread - that means AH is either paying to not have any negativity or moaning like a little child. And then to have hints dropped about being banned for being an unhappy customer? Really? Just wow ......

Totally agree with this, which is why I cancelled every account I have with Afrihost and moved my hard earned money elsewhere. I advise at least 15 people a week to stay the hell away from Afrihost based on the experience that I had, or rather... didnt have.

But hey... I'm just a whining littl' bitch who isnt entitled to bandwidth Im paying for.

Oh please, by the point I started posting in the thread the issue had been reported multiple times already. At that point the issue was already established to be their network. I'm not then going to waste my time sending them multiple traceroutes and other tests when the issue is clearly their network. I'm not being paid to troubleshoot their network for them and I'm also not going to pay for a service I have to troubleshoot myself when THEY have network issues.

And you're damn right I don't want help from other users. Are YOU going to fix their network so that my (and all the other complainants) streaming goes back to normal? No? Then your 'help' is of no use to me.

No, the real issue here is that there is a group of AfriHost 'enthusiasts' who simply don't want to see or read negative things about AH. This is evidenced by how you specifically kept telling people to stop posting in the AH feedback thread, and then when you finally got your way (I've been asked not to post there by RPM) you're still not content and come to this thread to tell me off. No, the real problems started when you and others started trying to police that thread and told people if they're having negative experiences they must cancel their accounts and stop posting in that thread. This is tantamount to censorship and is what originally raised my hackles and led to the rising tempers. You and others also kept getting stabs in at so-called 'ex-customers', always being careful not to mention any names. And yet now you want to pretend you're innocent?

But I guess that's okay because you're AfriMystery and because you vocally support AfriHost nobody cares what you get up to. Who needs a PR department with folks like you around.

Why did the AfriHost reps feel the need to have someone else clean up their mess? Ironic that you're doing precisely what you accused us of doing when the AfriHost reps ran away to cry to RPM, tails tucked between their legs.

im an Afrihost client yes, and not having any issues. But im openly a Crystal Web fan as well, and im a Telkom client as well. So im not exactly sure what you trying to prove. The problem isnt that you are complaining, no, you have all the right to complain, its your money and you want a better experience. Im going to tell you again, its the way you came across, that caused issues. Lots of things were thrown at them, which was a bit uncalled for.

Again, you shouldnt not be allowed to post in the Afrihost thread, i agree thats a bit extreme, but as somebody who has always said that I would be frustrated as well if i was in that position, i do believe that you could have addressed them in a better way. You frustrated and angry, but no need to have just constantly had a go at them.

All they do is ask you for information to take back to their engineers/network guys. They are basically just support on MYBB to relay any issues etc. But again, dude, i understand you are angry and frustrated.

how long have AH been lying to their customers about shaping/throttling etc?

Considering you think someone telling AH that they're taking us for fools is abusive, I'm not surprised this is how you feel about our posts.

Honestly, go have a look through WebAfrica, MWeb and especially OpenWeb's support threads and come back to tell me the AfriHost reps had it bad. I'm just curious why the courtesy of protection wasn't granted to any of those ISPs. All I'll say is that I hope these AfriHost reps never change jobs, because if this was too much for them, then hell. They wouldn't last a day working for my father. :D

dude, im not having any issues with Afrihost, like so many others. If thats what you feel they are doing, then PM Gian and ask him. He is pretty active on here. I cant answer that, so not sure why you are asking me.
