Is it easy to switch from one ISP to another, I currently have my ADSL with Axxess, and don't want to land up with double billing etc

Yes, it's pretty easy with most providers. There should be zero downtime if everything goes according to plan (which it does 99% of the time)

Great, so if fibre is live, how long does it take to connect?

I might be confused. Is it a new installation or a transfer of an exisitng line?

For new installation, most of the providers are around the two week mark these days. For transfer, if they release the line we can claim it within a couple of hours max.

I have made contact with my old ISP. Do I signup using the website to get advantage of the special offers?

For most people it will be month end - but it would be within 48 hours if you upgraded to a higher package.
Hmmm I upgraded to a higher package but at a lesser cost. Does this mean I'll be month end ?

You said you have an API which would accept the line once it's unallocated to any ISP? I don't want to sit without internet at 9 tonight or whenever my ISP managed to get Vumatel to take the line from them. Apparently they've set it to automatically be released from them on Friday, which hasn't happened because Vumatel has some or the other bug. So now I'm playing the waiting game. :(

For the providers who do have an API, we can do this pretty seamlessly. Some fo them don't - in which case we have to do it manually.

Currently I am on ADSL, and would like to go to Fibre, so its a new installation

When i upgraded from a capped package to the new pure fibre it upgraded at 12:00 that morning. Also an upgrade but cost less. You might have to call in. One of my lines there was a bug and the had to force the upgrade on their side.

Ah OK. So ADSL has pretty much nothing to do with fibre, so you'll have to cancel independently with Axxess on your DSL - your phone line too if you don't need the land line. I know you don't to pay for both, but I would plan for a little overlap just to be safe. Better to have your DSL and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Nice to get going quickly - glad they were able to sort it out for you :)

Been hitting torrents, testing streaming through cloudflare. Downloading from EU servers direct. Gaming on pc and xbox on local and EUW servers and uploading and streaming from google drive and Afrihost Pure on Openserve is perfect!

Streaming a 85GB .mkv video file directly from a Google drive just works without any buffering. Line speed on everything so far so I can't complain at all.

Downloading a 50GB file from google drive in the browser.

London latency is about 163ms. 170ms to Germany and The Netherlands which covers most EUW servers. Solid 4ms to Discord SA servers and 4ms to JHB Mweb hosted servers like Battlefield V and Battlefield 1 on PC and xbox one. 178ms to EUW League of legends server and it does not vary. You play a 40min game and for 40min straight it stays on 178ms no lag. Love it.

Using Cloudflare DNS like always and websites loads instantly.

I am experiencing a strange anomaly since I upgraded to Pure Fibre 200/100.

When my MacBook or my Apple TV is connected to my router over WiFi, a speed test indicates close to 200/100 speeds for both devices. However, when I plug the devices into the router with an Ethernet cable, I am getting speeds of about 100/100.

If anything, surely the situation should be the other way round?

Probably means the LAN port is connected at 100Mbps. Check that it does indeed have a 1Gbps ethernet port router and device. If it does make sure you are using at least a cat5e ethernet cable. If all that checks out then try forcing 1Gbps in the router ethernet settings or on the device itself.

I think the devices does not support 1Gbps ethernet or you are using a cat5 ethernet cable and not a cat5e cable.

5Ghz wifi can easily handle 200Mbps down and 100Mbps upload if you are relatively close to the router. In my case the Telkom LIT box has a 100Mbps ethernet cable but has 5Ghz wifi so I put a wifi access point next to it and then connect it to that with wifi. Faster than the 100Mbps lan port limit.
