Sounds confusing but simple to understand. 3 months free is separate so you get that by migrating to them. The R5k is for everything you claim after that like the R999 Vumatel Activation. The R999 for the router and then what ever amount you claim for cancellation. Since the R5k can not be carried over I would suggest taking the router because it's free and included in the R5k. Then claiming the cancellation fee by sending email to [email protected] and then 2 days they credit your account with it.

The only issue is you would need to pay home connect the R2288 for the cancellation if you want it right now or just wait cancellation period but doesn't make sense because you would still need to pay home connect.

You won't be able to claim the R2288 if you decide to wait another 30 before the line is released as far as I know it must be as a cancellation/penalty fee for cancelling now.
So if I were to give cisp a month's noticee(Aug) I would get a free router and free activation as well as sep Oct and November free? If I cancel within 6 months (of which 3 are free) I have to pay R999 to afrihost.. Is that how the 5k is worked out seeing as I have Fibre installed already and it will be a migration?

Wow, thanks for the explanation! I had no idea this deal was sooooo sweet!! Knew it was sweet but this is insane! I assumed the grand sum of the freebies to be R5k maximum! But you saying the 3 months free subscription isn't part of the R5k value?! WOW!!

2 or 3 months free is a separate thing to the R5k promo. R5k is for all the freebies.

Yes separate and @AfriMan confirmed in the other thread. R5k is for all the freebies. That is why I cancelled my Macrolan application because this deal was just too great to pass even with the 6 months commitment or R999 if cancelled before that. New users will obviously use it more because the free installationm free activation, free router probably the reason why new installation only get 2 months free because they will use more of the R5k value.

So for me I'm activated. Got the rest of this month free then 2 months after that. Also got just over R2500 credit for the cancellation I paid to Supersonic so got some free fibre ahead.

Any reason your 200/200 package on Octotel is so expensive compared to other providers and other ISPs?

The prices are mostly set by the provider, for us the data is the same. However, just also beware that some ISPs market as unshaped, but have thresholds or limit by protocol/international. So they can bring their prices down becuase they limit what they have to deliver.

Ok so the 5k is towards the installation.. Router and activation.. So I would use say R2100 of the 5k for the router and activation fee seeing as I will give cisp their months notice

AfriMan

What is the procedure for transferring my openserve Fibre to your network from CISP?
Also, do they allow immediate cancellations with penalties and then I give that invoice to your account department?

It seems like most ISPs want a calendar month for cancellation. So best would be to put in your cancellation. If you want to move over to us immediately, you can ask them to invoice you the full cancellation amount, and we will credit that to your Afrihost account.

Just make sure you also sign up with us now and indicate that it's migration of an existing line.

Once you've paid the ISP, just send us the invoice and proof of payment and we'll credit back to you :)

Mmmmm, so let me understand this right. I've given Home-connect notice. They holding me liable for August though but I've asked them to return my line to Vumatel ASAP so I can switch to Afrihost. I'll be billed R2288 for the month of August which I assume is for my own account. I have my own top end router so don't require Afrihost's. My understanding of the R5k rebate is I won't be billed for the first 3 months of service? So if I somehow go live on Afrihost tomorrow, the 23rd of July 2019, I will be billed on the 1st of November 2019, R1497 for the month of November plus R386 for 8 days of July (1000/100 account)? Bit contrived, correct me if I'm wrong...

So the R5K covers the costs of migration - that is activation, router and cancellation from your ISP. The 3 months is totally separate and does not come out of your credit. So no matter what package you take with us (and what is left in your credit) you will get the full 3 months.

Just also remember that your pro-rata month is also your first month. So if you signed up on the 28th of July - July is still the first month.

@AfriMan

Afrihost just invoiced me for August the the full R1,497.00 !!

Where are my freebies?

We have seen some clients receive invoices in error but you should not have been billed.

Please PM me so I can confirm that you were not billed. If you were, we'll refund in full if you weren't supposed to be billed.

If you take the free router from afrihost as part of the deal, would you need to return it one day if you cancel the subscription?

The router belongs to you, you only pay the cancellation fee if you cancel within six months.

We did at one stage take the routers back, but we really have no use for them, we ended up giving them away to staff and donating them. So we're totally happy for you to keep the router :)

My advice, if you do end up with extra routers, set up access nodes for better WiFi and LAN connectivity. Running my PS4 and TV off LAN instead of WiFi was a game changer ;)

Yes, but just remember that the first month is whichever month you get activated in, So if you get activated on the 23rd of July, then July is month 1.

Correct on the R999.
