Thats actually a good point, I didn't think about the cancellation fee being part of the package. Cause that was the concern that I'd technically be paying double the first month but get it free from Afrihost so it wouldn't be so bad but if I can get it cancelled and not spend it even better
Just remember that any cancellation costs etc are put against your Afrihost account. So you will have to pay Web Africa directly, but your Afrihost account will be credited with that amount. So maybe, your 4th month will have a credit balance as an example

anyone with ISPAfrika? and managed to get their line released early?

I'm with them atm and also the same story. I tried to get my line released from the 18th but every time I get the same story of only end of August. I even tried to pay them for August to get the line released early but no go.

In that same note I'm also trying to get confirmation that my line will be released end of August. Every time I phone I get told to email my request thru. I have done this twice now, on the 17th and yesterday again, and I still haven't received and firm confirmation that my line will be released end of August. Not sure what is going on there atm as support was previously quite decent but now it's a sh*tshow of note.

If you doing a migration, you can get up to 3 months free but new installation only guarantees you 2 months free.

Bit miffed about this.

Why don't I also get the benefit of up to 3 months as a new install/sub @Afrigirl ?
Because of the cost of the new install? (Already had fibre installed to my premises, so tech just had to come plug in CPE basically, though there was some fault finding needed as there was issues with the line where it entered the complex)

Really getting gatvol of Accounts now.
Please tell me if I’m being unreasonable guys.

This is my statement from WebSquad.

August charge and a line Activation fee because I’m leaving before they can recoup the cost. Both which I paid so my line could be released tonight.

My understanding is Afrihost would credit me with this cost.
I’ve gone through 3 separate people in accounts telling me to take it up with Vumatel or my previous ISP. WTF.

I’ve basically paid for 2 months now and properly pissed since I’ve asked them to call me but rather keep sending me the same email.

Not too impressed so far.

Ordered mine last night (launch day).
Kinda excited, just hope little to no digging will be fine since it's a complex and I'm a tenant.

Got installed and connected today.
8 down/ 2 up :-|
1. Got charged R16 for today. Maybe I should've waited and connected tommorow.
2. I can only afford 500pm but do you guys think I can upgrade for one month and then downgrade after that?

Isn't the 1st month a free month when u sign up as a new install ? ( even though its just a 1 day month in your case )

Via AH CP

Please note: You can make package changes at any point before the 23rd of this month, thereafter our billing cycle is processing and we only allow changes again from the 1st.

Via AH PF site

But that's not all - you'll also get up to 2 months FREE service. Once your Fibre line is installed and active, you'll get the remainder of your first month and the following month of service free. For example, if your Fibre line is activated on the 15th, you'll get the remaining 15 days free and then get the following month absolutely free.

Via AH help site

Please note. Package changes can be made at any point before the 15th of a month, thereafter our billing cycle is processing and we only allow changes again from the 1st.

Processing Time. Upgrades can take 2 - 48 hours to take effect. Downgrades are processed at the beginning of the following month.

Ask @Afrigirl @AfriGuy to clarify

Correct. I was charged R16 which then got cancelled out. So by virtue, July and August count as my free months (32 days) instead of August and September (61 days). Still happy it's free.

Yeah - you should have waited just one more day! Bummer !

Speak to Wendy in Accounts. She sorted me out quickly.

New installs are a bit more pricey for us to cover. Some providers charge R2k plus for installation, which we pay over on your behalf.

Seeing as we only recoup R999 max if you cancel within 6 months, it's just a bigger cost to carry.

Please drop me the ticket reference on PM. We should cover whatever they charge you for cancellation, up to the remainder of the R5k credit.

Sounds like R16 was your pro-rata, you should have received an equivalent credit note so your bank account shouldn't have been debited.

You can definitely upgrade for your free month, just make sure you downgrade in time. Alternatively, you may love the new speed too much to go back. That's also OK ;)

Well it's official - i need to wait till 31 Aug before i join you guys. Super disappointed about the release not happening tomorrow, but such is life hey !

Well it is now 03.05am on the 1st..and I still connecting via cisp.. Even though they confirmed that line would be released on the 31st at 12pm..should I be concerned or is this normal?they also said the courier would come and collect modem today..

If you're on Openserve just change the login details in your router. I was using Afrihost as soon as the data account details were available.

CISP also told me that they need to collect the router, but they never sent me one in the first place so that conversion ended quickly.

Vuma aerial.. Nor sure if they(cisp) wanting me to pay final invoice before releasing?

Maybe you are in the same boat as me my friend... they tell you one thing, but in reality it is something different... let's hope that you can switch today though..

I was also expecting to be connected today. And nothing. Cisp seems to have released the line. But not sure what I just do now.
