Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

Just to note I've seen the posts regarding overwatch. Definitely seems to be related to the peering network from Amsterdam/London.

It will probably take some time to trace and communicate without Euopean partners around this - but let's get our guys on it and see how we go from here.

axxess ( i believe) screwed up on releasing the line into the holding pool (multiple tickets before the time, asking them nicely to do it before the end of the month, but nope - it was only done on the first (well internet stopped working :/)
calling afrihost ( 30minutes waiting time...), "nope sir sorry your line is still with other provider). Rinse and repeat with axxess - 3 times back and forth during the day. eventually, i believe axxess, used the excuse that it will take 24 hours.
same story on friday, where axxess eventually has a tech that could confirm that the automatic API release of the line into the holding pool did not complete. He manually placed an order for this to happen, which was scheduled for saturday.

Come monday, i first called axxess, where they confirmed the line was moved. then afrihost again (30minutes of music- THANK YOU!!) - there was still strange issues (line was reported by openserve to be with afrihost and another provider at the same time. luckily the tech was able to rectify and complete the order.

so yes , internet joy after 5 days - now to see if it stays stable.

good luck with the move guys!
PS
make 100% sure that your line is released (not just your account removed/deleted from the online portal - they need to physically interrogate the openserve portal and get a holding pool status. even better let them email/sms you the result

Glad you are connected now - sorry about the admin.

It can be a little tough co-ordinating transfers when the line isn't released on time. We can't automate this as we'll end up spamming the providers API (where they have one). So there are some manual steps - which is not ideal.

Best is to just let us know when you confirm the line is available and we can start pushing for a quick transfer.

@AfriFella

I received my router today and my previous ISP said my line was released on Friday last week. Tried to ask what's the next on the whatsapp chat but they say :- "Unfortunately, there hasn't been any feedback on the yesterday's escalation with regards to the migration, kindly quote this ref number for feedback on your next chat XTD-720-10652, we will get back to you as soon as we have feedback.

Do I just replace the router or what has to happen?

If you're on Openserve you can start using our PPPoE details whether your line is with us or not.

Drop me a PM so we can chase up the hold up on our side :(

Just ordered my Afrihost Pure Fibre last night, super excited.
First time getting Fibre, are currently with Rain Mobile but they have weakened the last couple of months and this deal are fantastic.
Just waiting for the R1 deposit to show in my bank, before the process can start! Will keep you up to date!

Hopefully the installation goes fast and I'm up and running.

That's awesome. Rain is great, but fibre is in many ways a much more cost-effective solution for home. Hopefully you're saving a little, but you should be getting a lot more :)

Didn't we get this sorted for you? Or was that on your other account?

Please send me the details, will get that squared away for you :)

Spoke to W**** yesterday and she said she can’t make the call :(

Will PM you again in the morning thanks.

When did you give notice to axxess for the Migration, on the 25th ? And signup for Pure Fibre same day ?

While you're at it, could you take a look at Apex Legends too? Probably related / same issue, but ping to the London server is 143-150ms, yet in-game is considerably higher. I suspect London is just the matchmaking server, and joining a game punts you to a random EU server which is then taking a longer path than necessary.

if memory serves, i performed the migration step on axxess end of July via the online portal (with tickets before hand to confirm the process)- they have a 30 day limitation (although i never called them to find out if they can do it faster...)
i was informed at that stage that i will need to wait for the line to be released before i can apply at a new ISP which was troubling me already. I then obtained the B-number for my line from axxess on the 30th (where i once again requested them to release me line 2 days before month end as promised), which i then utilized to place my order with Afrihost. Order was then stuck, and could not complete until the whole line release business was properly completed

What is the speed that you are getting in game Seeyou?

There is a dedicated Afrihost subforum on MyBB. What have you done. :(

I'm up and running on Pure Fibre as of a few minutes ago. 200Mbps Openserve.

Speeds are still 100Mbps, presumably due to Cool Ideas still needing to migrate my line, but latency looks good. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

Sorry to ask a stupid question, the fact u only get half of your speed is not because you're connected to the 2.4Ghz frequency instead of the 5Ghz. That was my problem initially getting only 50/100mbs, but then again I only really got fibre smart since I joined MBB chatting to you guys lol? :-)

In that case it was my line. The PC doing tests was wired to the router so WiFi wasn't a factor.

The line reconfigured at 200Mbps pretty shortly after migrating to Afrihost, so no worries.

Tough to tell exactly in Apex, as there is only an actual latency value shown in the server list. However, the latency warning appears permanently in-game which I believe is only visible above 180ms. (wasn't there on CISP)

I'm also an online gamer and I've seen my pings going through the roof at times, but that was when I was on 20mbs WISP. Since I've connected to fibre on 16 July, I actually haven't played much online again, maybe I need to check out the Battlefield 5 servers tonight.

I'm on a 100/10mbs package and on occasion the servers are extremely slow when I download games digitally from PS store. So what I do then is to pause the download for appr. 5sec and then presume and then it runs well again. Sometimes I need to do this perhaps 3-4 times?
