Afrihost Uncapped DSL Feedback

Strange because steam was struggling both on the JHB and London download servers.

That could point to something else being the issue. If there is any change, please let me know.

Seeing a weird spike there, but the latency settles down again at the end of the trace. How's your overall performance?

After 6 as long as I'm not connected to my VPN it's really good...or it's really good for what I use it for. P2P sucks but that I understand; peak times and all. Netflix 1080p on a 4mbps line :D But connecting to my VPN it doesn't matter what I try to do Afrihost blocks encrypted data just in-case it might me P2P it seems.

Strange because at any other time during the day and after 23:00 on VPN my 4mbps line becomes Daredevil... Why is that? I'd love Daredevil speeds all the time :P

P2P kuk, ping kuk. Whaaaats going on?

This is a business line guys.

And let me guess it got a lot better at 23:00? Theirs nothing wrong with your line. Buy some pre-paid data from Axxess and test it during 19:00 and 23:00 next to your afrihost account. It's R27 for 3gig and if they both suck during that time then it's you line...but I've got the sneaking suspicion only one's gona suck......afrihost. Your being shaped to ease congestion.

Someone might have been downloading on the WiFi tonight but I'll keep a close eye on it.

Good morning and thanks for testing. Your traceroutes on both accounts show some pretty severe latency on the first hop between your router and your device. :( We'll have to address this before we can conclusively determine the cause of your problem.

As mentioned, we do not shape any realtime protocols on shaped accounts. Please feel free to drop me a PM with your account info and we'll take it from there. :)

How long after requesting my line returned to Telkom will it be complete?

Your line will be released back to the Openserve holding pool at the end of the month due to the fact that we bill a month in advance.

".....show some pretty severe latency" You did hear me say it's behind a VPN right? Encrypted before being send.... 23ms and it stays very consistent after it's been encrypted. I'm sure AfriFella understands the fundementals behind the functioning of a VPN.

It's not good that your pings are timing out, by pinging bras.afrihost.com you're pinging the point at which your traffic breakouts to our network.

How is your local latency looking at the moment?

Ping is rather high tonight.

I'm sure AfriFella understands the fundementals behind the functioning of a VPN.

It's not good that your pings are timing out, by pinging bras.afrihost.com you're pinging the point at which your traffic breakouts to our network.

How is your local latency looking at the moment?

You have all my details. On Afrihost account all data is blocked behind my VPN I'm being forced to use axxess pre-paid until 23:00 just to watch Netflix then everything goes to normal again. It's OK I'll be moving to different ISP end of the month.

I've provided Afrihost with all the details they requested and nothing has changed. I've tested the line with a different ISP and experienced no issues. I've send you the proof and I get no comment from support or from this forum when I PM'ed the admins.

Terrible service; terrible support.
