Argh!

Wendy Knowler is basically a consumer watchdog. If you read any major newspaper she has tips etc on your rights as a consumer.

Just to give you an idea of what she's capable of, my mum had a problem with her car which rendered it useless and the insurance wouldn't pay. After 11 months of fighting (and not having a car), we called Wendy and got 100% of the claim paid out in a week.

Everyone's terrified of her...

When it comes to high-priced purchases, I tend to stick to companies I trust, or that others can vouch for.

I really hope your problem gets sorted fast... But it's still really beyond me how they can even HAVE a problem with such a simple request

Sounds like my mother in law

I called Tony and immediately said I could return the notebook for a full refund.

Tony Dayken?

LOL I bought my first new PC from him. My PSU blew the day I got it...
Not good he didn't tell me the one I ordered wouldn't be able to manage my hardware but I picked up the machine at 5pm, set it up and PSU blew by 6pm, Tony picked it up at 7pm and returned it the next day.

Awesome service!

For sure. But I've dealt with Comstar in the past with "high-priced" purchases and haven't had any problems.

I guess that's the problem! I didn't have any problems, so didn't get the opportunity to test out their support department :(

Tony Daykin indeed!

Should get them to register as dealers on MyBB... Their service would be appreciated by all :o

Well I'm totally in. How do I contact her?

PM me all the details... From start to finish with dates & times etc if possible. Send me your contact details as well.

I know her personally so I'll try to get her to take it up & contact you directly.

That's great. I'll do that if things don't get sorted out tomorrow.

Thanks!

At 8:30am this morning, Richard from Comstar called me.

He said the HP product manager at axiz has not gotten back to him, so he's decided to go over their heads, straight to Damien at HP, who has said he is taking the matter to "the highest power". Sounds like a bit of propaganda, but at least it's something.

So they're trying to put pressure on axiz. Assuming they have a leg to stand on (meaning it actually IS axiz's fault, why else would they pursue this with such zeal), this is exactly what they need to do to get things done. On the other hand, I just want my service :(

Edit: Noticed a typo. Fixed it a bolded the changes

So it's just before noon, and still no word. Do I call and complain that they haven't gotten back to me (after saying they'll get back to me by 12:00), or do I let it slide for a while, giving me even MORE ammunition?
