Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

I did some testing last night

As you can see from peak time This is how bad my ping plotter shows packetloss around 19:00

Now this is taken offpeak after 23:30

I really can't say this is congestion on my tower as my speed test are staying the same. Also the packetloss only starts on the 3hop showing its in cellc core network

Now we can run around saying its the tower, (but thats not true) because if I roam on vodacom using a cellc sim you get the same packetloss but if I use a vodacom sim 0% packetloss this rules out the tower and suggest something is not right at cellc

Hi DTBA

Please PM us the affected location + the number in question + your contact number. We will report the matter to our Network Team.

Hi Beldrac13

Please PM us your Cell C number + an alternative contact number and email address.

Our Network Team will assist.

I'm surprised you don't already have my number on speed dial, for the number of issues I've had lately. :-)

Yup. I haven't even bothered to send my details through. I know it won't make a modicum of difference.

Had their technicians ou here last year (allegedly) for signal testing and they confirmed an upgrade or new tower is needed. Exactly a year down the line, nada.

Surprised? Sadly, nope.

Also experiencing problems in the evening, last night again getting disconnections from servers and chats. Speed looks fine but everything is not fine. My set up has not changed and I contacted Cell c network department. They told me to change my antenna direction but this has not helped. Issue only occurs in the evening. Very, very frustrating.

Verbatim my experience last night.

ISP needs to step up their towers...
As more people are moving away from adsl to LTE or LTE-A.

As streaming Netflix and YouTube pushing the 720p and 1080p or even 4K content , these up to 4mbit adsl or upto 10mbit is not cutting the bread no more.

It's one thing to launch LTE or LTE-a , but those towers must serve the masses. If it's too crowded and tower is slow, then sub 10mbit speeds will be the norm. Which I see is the case for many users and not only in this thread.

LTA data is getting cheaper and the massive Telekom line rental and adsl line rentals and isp data prices combined makes LTE and LTE-A a excellent alternative option. But not if your experience is shakey by getting Less than 15mbit. I think that is what our expectation minimum should be. Specially in this day and age for data needs and social media. In 2 to 3 years... maybe 30mbit or 50mbit will need to be the minimum (4K gaming and 4K content will then be the next 1080p minimum)

I really don't know whats happening with Cell C - I too have been reporting several times that their network is painfully slow in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth. I have given up now... gonna wait till I am done studying, then bye Cell C. Its a struggle to upload 60MB on Cell C's network... 2 hours and 45 minutes is the ETA. On top of this, watching 360p video's off YouTube is a struggle with their network.

Last I heard, they said they were going to add an additional layer to their tower. The only time Cell C's network actually performs on my side is between 00:00 - 06:00 (when everyone is sleeping), or when the majority of students have left Summerstrand for holidays. I really don't know now, its sad because a few years ago their network was outstanding... now, throttled ADSL works out being faster than Cell C's 3G network here... really sad.

Please @Cell_C fix your network, the packet loss is atrocious

This is this evening, as you can see the packet loss is in your network, my area I stay in is Pelikan Park, Western Cape. Your base station is about 500m away from me. My cell number is 0627187075 and this only happens during the evening. So once again please fix your network. If you will do me the honour to contact me my contact number is 0833468500.

There is 100% something wrong with their network. I really would love if they man up and make statement about it

The biggest problem is streaming and downloading is fine as packetloss is not effecting the ping or speed but if you use stuff like VOIP or anything that doesnt like packetloss you have so many problems

Still getting same problem with disconnects between 18:00 - 21:00. Actually got worse. This after getting called and logging the problem with Cell C. I get disconnected every 10 min.

Does anyone use the USSD feature on the B315 to check their data balance? *147#

And when are they going to fix that 14302 sms balance number?

Location: CPT, Greenpoint
Date & Time of Issue: Randomly since 3 June 2017
Device Manufacturer & Model (e.g. Huawei E1820, ZTE MF190, Not: Black Modem, White Modem): ZTE MF283+
Contract Type (pre- or post-paid): LTE 200gb DATA Contract
Existing reference numbers from Helpdesk: 7070502321
www.speedtest.net results (if possible): Average 18 mB/s Down, 10 mB/s up
Cell ID (if possible):
RSSI (if possible, see How to check signal strength (RSSI)) -53 dBm - -64 dBm
Any other information relevant to the problem: Snarky remarks from the customer call center, Facebook support seems to be the only side that does anything. Due to my nature of work I can not take calls in the morning and requested to be contacted after 3pm and always have missed calls from cell c at about 8am. Network keeps timing out, speeds went down from 80 mB/s average to 20 average. Can almost not do anything during the day, network only smooths out after 11pm to about 5am.

Similar **** for me. It's taken them 12 days to clear 'tower interference' but my signal is still unusable at most times, I can't load webpages or run speedtests half the time.

Previously I was told that it was network congestion, tower upgrades and other excuses. Part of my wants to dump the 120gb of Cell C data I have left but can't use and get a Telkom contract, at least then I could access this website from my computer instead of my phone.
