Cheaper 3G Prices - Rep?

3G was a semi-good idea a year or so ago, but now it's just daylight robbery.

so, who wants to bet me VodacomDATA isn't gonna post in this thread? i've got 10 bucks that say's he's hiding it out (again)

i've been on vodacom 3g for the last 4 years b/c i thought ADSL was a ripoff (cheaper yes, but more of a ripoff). With the latest ADSL price reductions though, i can't justify having 3G as my only channel. So after all these years, I'm actually once again going to be ordering a Telkom Line with an unlimited ADSL package and cut my 3G usage by like 90%. Cause R289 for 1 Gig? Please... 3G is now back to what is was intended for, a mobile, low-use/backup channel.

with R289 per GB and vodacoms tables are bare :eek:

vodacomdata still the best rep on the forum, solves issues and answers pms fast

But really, I also only use 3G as a backup to neo%%#$%, but the price is a bit on the high side.:(

Yea - it was actually quite decent 1-2 years back.

But since then, it seems everyone is dropping (or raising caps etc) and with no new developments on 3G packages, it's looking a little dated ...

Would be interesting to see data user stats ; my feeling is quite a few will be jumpign ship unless Vodacom does something.

iBurst looks mighty tasty against Vodacom at the moment, and yes, I am posting from an iBurst connection NOW, so I know what both are like :o

iBurst whoops vodacom speed wise the last month or so, seriously - I can't do anything on 3G anymore it's so congested


I've been downloading gigs and gigs lately at work, never get capped - It's awesome

however - ADSL is the best and people are reporting amazing speeds on Digichilly's uncapped at R500 a month, so might go for that!

I agree.
At the very least he gave us an honest answer, even though its not what i wanted to hear!
It takes guts to post an answer like that.
Now we can go and Digichilli in peace, knowing that nothing is going to be cheaper from Vodacoms side any time soon.

I will keep my spare modem for Telkom mobile.

Well we can't rip him appart because he is only the rep here, and doesnt control the prices. :) Unfortunately
 
look up vodafone prices in the UK..

We used to be cheaper than them, they earn 5+ times more than us and now are getting pretty darn close to affordable by south african standards.

Whereas Vodacon and the rest of the bastards are stil charging like cellphones were invented yesterday!!! damn

VodacomData I would love to know how far Vodacom is concerning this? When was it started? :) Could you or OcLeroux give any more info concerning this?

huh? WTF is DSLAM? Vertel my ook asseblief. Is DSLAM something we can charge customers extra for VodacomData? hehehehe :D

Thats why I got ADSL just over 2 months ago. 3G is now only used when I am on the move. Vodacom has lost 5GB+ per month from me alone.

Even though we all connect to towers via 3g. It all comes to copper or fibre at some point, which in turn connects us all to the outside world. :)

So in the end what you saying is....copper = Tellkom and therefore ***ka speed? So how would DSLAMS help Vodacom? Would Vodacom install DSLAMS @ the 3G base stations and that would then increase the capacity and speed?
