Cheaper 3G Prices - Rep?

Morning All

Wondering when Voadcom will give us competitive data rates and why in South Africa we always have to pay so much for calls and data?

In Aus I can get 10gb of data a month for R 343
In UK I can get 15gb of data for R 180
In SA with Vodacom Uncapped Pro 10gb it costs R 1989

Can someone explain please explain to me the justification for this?

It looks like a huge rip off that we as consumers just put up with.

I am sure that if we compared call costs we would find similar inequalities.

Its time for Vodacom to realize that the future of data is to encourage users to use more and for the network to offer competitive pricing.

In my opinion the state should be offering free unlimited national broadband access and as a massive enabler to development.

Look forward to your comments on the above

Nick

Nick, what area are you in? I suggest you look at Cell C which costs around R250 for 5GB.

Or, R1999 once off, which = R166 for 5GIGS = R33 for 1GIG = R0.03 for 1meg.

This equation is child proof, as it's glaringly evident that ANY data bundle from MTN or Voda is a rip-off compared to CellC! I don't care if has been said a billions B4, I am saying it again...these MF's need to learn the hard way. People need to be educated/made aware of this rip-off, and b advised to swap to CellC...

Vodacom can take their R2 per m.b and go and #### themselves! If only Cell C had coverage in smaller towns like Klerksdorp I would be all over it like a rash.

Part of the problem is that thousands of customers are flocking to 36 months laptop + data contracts. Idiotically locking themselves into a long term ass raping by Vodacom / MTN. That is why they will not drop their prices, because if they do they will lose millions in revenue. The sheep are all happily paying so why drop prices?

Currently I am begrudgingly on a month to month data arrangement with Vodacom, but the second that the Cell C service get's available in my area I will be buying a "Woosh" package.

Value proposition? Well I propose you get ##### you greedy bastards!

+1
Even if they now decide to drop their prices. I would still be reluctant to renew my contract.
Just too much greed and too little compassion.

We do have Advanced bundles that will give you lower out of bundle rates , why dont you migrate your bundle?

Because even your cheapest "bundle" works out to 19c per mb (2gb @ R389) compare that to CellC's 6c per mb and you might begin to see my point

I do understand , if you are on contract then a short term solution would be to do the migration and qualify for the advanced in and out of bundle rates. At least it would be cheaper than being on standard even if it does not beat Cell C , If you are on prepaid , then im wondering why you havent made the change to Cell C yet?

No he is reflecting Vodacom's actual attitude towards their consumers. If he feels free to ask that question on a public forum like this then that must be a snapshot of the overall "customer care" picture at Vodacom. I work in retail and I deal with Vodacom and believe me they have the same attitude toward corporate customers. If you dont like our business model take your business elsewhere.

Hi Everyone

@ minerva , i really didn't mean to chase you away from Vodacom , i will never do that , i simply needed to know if you are on prepaid why you not with C Cell , we all know it is a good offer after all.

@cellbell , thank you for pointing out that the reason for minerva not moving over was because of coverage.

If only Cell C had coverage in smaller towns like Klerksdorp
My bad for not reading properly then.

My apologies everyone...............:o

You have nothing to appologize for VD. You gave your honest opinion. Non of us that is in the Vodacom business can deny that the Cell C offer is in fact a good one....while it lasts of course. I myself have admitted to having a Cell C modem. A client asked me last week if I think he should go with the Cell C deal. My response was merely that it is a good deal, but that is all I feel comfortable saying. He respected that.

But, one thing that Vodacom has got that Cell C does not, is a official rep on mybb called VD (and no, that is not short for a sexually transmitted disease!) hehe.

Keep up the good work meneer.
