So when do I get these details? Also what mode do I select on my TP-Link router? Dynamic IP or PPPoE?
If the line has been configured and confirmed from our side we would issue you with these details and start billing. If the line hasn't been confirmed on our side we wouldn't. This is an issue that we've been experiencing with Britelink is they aren't updating the portal as they should be which delays the process.

Aerial would be PPPoE :)

Anybody else having issues this morning on Vumatel? My router cannot obtain an IP from the DHCP server.

There seems to be a general Vumatel issue in Bromhof. Waiting for confirmation of other areas.

Update: Seems to be Bromhof, Olivedale and Jukskei Park areas affected. Techs are on their way to investigate. No ETR as yet.

@PBCool - I would like to move my line from Afrihost over to you. I've already applied on your website today. Anything I can do to speed it up?

Also, anybody know if it's possible to get Vumatel to do a second install for me? I'd only like one line active, but currently my modem is quite far from my pc, so even with a beast of a router(Asus AC3100), I only get about 50% signal. And I have concrete ceilings, so not easy to just run it in the ceiling.

Are you on Vumatel aerial or trenched?

It's going to be easier and cheaper to run a cat6 cable from the ONT/CPE to where you want the router than having them re-install to be honest. Or better yet just install multiple APs.

The problem with multiple AP's is that I don't want to much cabling running around the house. I can make it work, but I was hoping they could do it neater. I'm on trenched. Also, with multiple AP's, can they all have the same ssid? I would ideally like to not drop signal when moving from one point of the house to the other. I also would really love to stream from my htpc to my bedroom, and they'll definitely have to be on different AP's.

Thats why you buy a brand of APs, which can allow you to have the same SSID over all of them, and let you move between them seamlessly without having to reconnect. I prefer ubiquity long range access points. It will cost you a bit, but it is a set up once and forget type of thing.

Yes so you just get a cabling company to do so which is what you would be paying Vumatel for anyway.

Trenched you can switch at any time but Afrihost will need to cancel your service before you are able to order a new package.

You can setup multiple different brand with the same SSID and auth, and so long they are 3 channels apart would work on exactly that where you can roam between the different APs.

For streaming to fixed devices, cabling is always recommended.

@PBCool So Octotel are coming in tomorrow to get my CPE installed, once they're done what needs to happen to get everything activated with you guys?

I'm assuming I could just use my Pfsense router to create the connection (though I have asked for the router with my order) so would I just need my account details and some activation on your end? How long would that typically take?

Issuing an account is immediate but your billing starts, so it's usually better to wait for the line install to be handed over to us. You can mail connect@cisp.co.za with the above and if you are happy for the billing to start they can issue an account.

Thanks, I'll wait until they've installed and everything checks out first.
