It's been 60 days for a simple config change.

Lol, you should see the twitter exchanges. There's a 10 week old thread where I tweet Vumatel and Cool Ideas iperf test results coupled with a short rant. Vumatel usually responds with 'CISP please assist the customer'. CISP seldom responds...

You wouldn’t believe my correspondence with Frogfoot, lol. They told me 10Mbps on a 100Mbps line to international sites is correct and they don’t believe people get higher and that I must understand there are things like distance and number of hops at play. I started telling them I’ve worked in IT infrastructure for 15 years before I stopped myself and just said never mind, good day...

Anybody having slow international speeds on Cool Ideas (From Cape Town). Been really pathetic last few days, less than 1mb/s and I used to get 10mbps international. Logged a ticket with them 3 days ago and not a peep out of them.

Same here... hit over 5Mbyte/sec on a well-seeded torrent while mini-me is streaming in Full HD on the TV

I am seeing packet loss though, but the speed is there. I am seeing MyBB stutter with loading, and downloads from overseas fall over, but when I resume they come right back up. So those who are pointing out the packet loss are telling the truth.

How do I get this sorted? Continuously bouncing between 160 -190+. Some nights perfect other nights not so much, 2 months this has been going on hoping this would be fixed at some point.

Twitch is buffering again tonight. Also, uploaded a video to YouTube earlier and was capping out at 650KB/s on a 100/100 line, go figure lol.

We're being throttled... that's what's happening.
I am busy figuring out a way to prove it and then take CISP/Octotel/Upstream provider on about it

I have thought about it but where do I go, all that's left is Vox Telecom, and that lot take WEEKS to do anything.. So god help us if there's a problem... I am also not sure its the ISP, I somehow get the feeling the fibre provider has a big share of the blame here. But ja, until I know exactly how all of this works, I am kind of unsure who to blame really.

Fair enough. With Octotel you have a bunch of options actually. Home-connect/Cipherwave, Supersonic, Rocketnet, Macrolan, C-Fibre.

Not encouraging you to switch but if I had a bad experience like what the last few pages are all about then I would have sent my cancellation already.

And who exactly are these ISPs? I have never heard of them, they are all new, and possibly fly-by-night outfits.
I am sorry but I've been burnt many times over a period of 10 years to not trust any new/young ISPs

Cellc C-Fibre a new fly by night ISP.... Now I heard everything. Rocketnet has been around for quite a while they even have a Rep here. Supersonic won best ISP Q4 2018. Cipherwave came second and Macrolan is the ISP of Seacom cables....

Was just making suggestions. Good luck diagnosing your line. It's sucks having fibre and adsl feels better.

@PBCool any news yet on when you will be releasing a 1 gbps line on Vumatel? seeing as other isp's have started selling there's at R2000 pm? which in my opinion is very reasonable.
