Looks like the pot has been stirred, I see this on Crystal Web Managements profile page:

Hahahahaha!

Good coz they'll never see me - and others - ever again. Got a soppy mail from Gian again this morning to "buy us back". Sad part is it's the same lovey dovey stuff I used to get when I was still their client - whilst back at the ranch the support beyond sucked.

CW are just absolute legends.

I don't fully understand the logic of uncapped usage between midnight and 6pm on capped accounts, but I absolutely love it nonetheless. Looking forward to all the concrete details.

(Is it because Netflix time is by far the biggest strain for ISPs?)

that's exactly why

Capped customers can now enjoy free data between midnight and 6pm
Cunning, seems a lot of CW capped clients like me use their cap mainly for streaming in the evening.

... waiting for the new pricing to be revealed :)

BTW really hope we see the v1 portal at the end of this month as promised elsewhere - it's long overdue.

Did you ever figure out what the root cause of your disappearing data issue was?

Very clever, as I assume Premium Uncapped users will now see even less shaping at peak hours (Netflix hours), because the torrenters will probably do that during the day now - well the capped ones anyway. Not that I've had shaping that often to begin with.

Free-time on capped
We have decided to introduce free-time periods on capped account data for our new Xtreme Home Capped products. We currently offer free data from midnight to 6am. We’re about to turn that on its head, and change it to 6pm. Yes, that is not a typo. Capped customers can now enjoy free data between midnight and 6pm. We will be releasing details about this in the coming days, so hold tight. We will automatically change your package for you so that you don’t have to do anything on your end.

:wtf: - Wow - that's pretty bloody amazing - so it's uncapped from 00h00 to 18h00 pm and Capped from 18h00 - 00h00.

That's awesome for my use case.

Hmm

"We are tired of the onerous sign-up numbers required to deploy."

"Oh, and if you want to expedite getting your area lit up on our new XtremeTTH service, start getting people in your area to sign up with us now! It's a first come first served product and requires 50 people in your area to sign up"

Contradiction?

And what is meant by 50 people in my area? Close vicinity as in same street/block or what?

Not contradiction. Other providers require at least 30% participation from a suburb. For us that was 1500 households... not 50.

I see. Thanks for clarifying. So are we talking suburb here?

Information will be released soon, but in terms of current deployments you need hundreds, if not thousands to opt-in, and it goes via complicated HOA approvals and build approvals. We don't need an HOA and we can deploy to free-standing houses as a result, with very minimal commitment from people in the area. So we don't see it as onerous but in fact quite the opposite.
