Who are you currently with?

IS star rated 10mb uncapped through IC and never have any issues:

I have a 18mb line so would love to move to capped, but I want CW to start showing some professionalism first before I move, like not doing a Keoma over here and having a PORTAL I can signup on (I can only imagine how busy that online chat guy is), a website that doesn't look like an after-thought trying to keep up with the Jones's and actually advertises their strengths such as premium news server for one, oh and a package smaller than 150GB, like Open Web's 75GB package would be nice, as I'm not a heavy user, maybe I should just go with Open Web (can't believe I'm saying this ), but they do have unshaped capped and a PORTAL, just a bad rep and 30 day cancellation which I refuse to entertain, but CW is fast moving in that direction for me too.

Communication is KING.

It is really sad that CW went from Hero to total Zero in a matter of three weeks. The one moment there was this great news about XTTH and the plans to get it to your neighborhood within three months and BOOM....

1. Everyone being left with a cliffhanger with no info to get this magical fiber connection to your area.
2. Same MO as OW about blaming Telscum and exchange congestion for latency problems, when members test with other ISP accounts, everything is back to normal.
3. And with the CW rep jumping ship (again) just as a lot of subscribers have issues with they connections? Eish.

Since MWEB and IS sorted their interconnect I have had 0 issues while gaming.44 ms to jhb and 25ms to CT CSGO servers.
Youtube auto streams at 1080p on my 10meg line.I could not be happier !!!

My Internet has been back up since this morning.

I don't get all the drama tbh. My connection is fine (Cape Town). Friend came over the other day and was surprised I was able to stream 1080p 60 fps Youtube streams with no issues. Had a couple of issues and support has always been super fast in helping me out. If you have issues and support can't/hasn't fixed it then carry on I guess.

Some CPT folks could have been impacted by this: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...aintenance?p=18503754&viewfull=1#post18503754

Crystal Web's announcement(s) about "XTTH" is not fibre. It's wireless internet connectivity. There was no announcement about related to fibre.

but they make you believe it is fibre. Maybe that's why they decided not to go ahead and release it then...

Yeah, that was some rather deceptive nonsense. I mean, it could be that their wireless product will be great, but stop trying to make people think it's fibre when it's not.

I was on that but the star rating thing was a killer - I was very disciplines about scheduling, but just a bit of peak time use would kick down the stars so I moved on.

Phase 1 was wireless.

From Phase 2 onwards it was actual fibre.

Yeah no, don't think so.

Better rethink then:

But will I have actual fibre in my home in Phase 1 or Phase 2?

In reading between the lines, it seems if Phase 1 is the wireless deployment and then only will it be proper FTTH in Phase 2.

Also, when you guys announced the pricing you said is includes data but did not explicitly say if it was uncapped/unshaped (unless I missed it).

Everyone has fibre in phase 2. Not everyone in phase 1 but some will. We are deploying new stuff for that. It is uncapped and unshaped by the way from phase 1.

For me it doesn't matter what star I'm on 1 or 5, it's all the same to me, I only need speed after 5pm and weekends anyway so suits me just fine.

They're just not advertising it as fibre, but the first rollout is probably going to be something like "this is a fibre-like connection" to get people on board.

Yeah no, don't think so.

It is. I chatted with Paul about this in person last month, and he explained to me how the rollout works. We're both going to try get it going in Jeffreys Bay.

I am fast approaching the end of my patience.

My problem has been persistent from the 1st of this month. Still zero ETR. And the support desk which used to be a cut above the rest is starting to sound a lot like AH - please run these speed tests. Please run these WinMTR. Hmmm...can't see anything wrong. Will escalate.

Well that's just dandy. Unless it's been escalated 4 times already!

Don't know whether their 100mb Telkom fibre customer base is just too small to give a damn about, but this is not the customer service I've come to love from CW.

Disappointed.

I know how you're feeling. I've also been having problems since the beginning of this month, but since my problems were relatively minor, I figured I'd wait with reporting them till Crystal Web had had a chance to fix everyone else's problems.

Well, a couple of days ago, things went from "a little bit bad" to "no internet connectivity". A couple of traceroutes later, I could see that whatever I tried to contact, the trace died with IS' network. After this problem solved itself, however, I had 20-30% packetloss on everything. So, I had to contact Crystal Web. I did so, and they did a "port reset" which actually seemed to solve the problem in so far as it was now back to just being "normally" bad, the way it has been all month. Crystal Web insisted that this problem was Telkom's fault and decided to tell Telkom to fix it, which then resulted in Telkom calling my girlfriend to tell her that they couldn't see anything wrong with our ADSL line.

Now, there is a theoretical chance that my problem is due to Telkom, but it'd be a rather strange coincidence that my ADSL line should somehow degrade JUST as Crystal Web change all their products and lots of their clients are experiencing problems. However, now I have to reserve a day for staying home and waiting for Telkom to show up, so they can once again say that it's not their problem.

So yeah, all in all, I'm also rather unimpressed.

Or, you can just plug in another ISP's (not IS based) details into your router and see if your problems go away? If they don't then it is a coincidence that your Telkom problems started at the same time as Crystal Web's.

I've been doing just that. Have been running on a afrihost capped account for the past few days to see if the issues I see on CW is universal or ISP specific. Best time to test them since they have the whole R1 deal thing for a month.

Hi Guys

What is going on with the website / portal I thought we will hear something about that beginning of October. Also the daily usage stat email seems incorrect. Does not look like the Free hours are being calculated in the usage. Mine monthly usage sitting way to high to have included the free hours.
