Didn't you used to have fibre?

Yep, when I lived in Mill Park. Was glorious. Then I moved to Walmer and could go up to 40Mbps VDSL. Telkom FTTH is nearly live in my area. Lots of fibre work going on around me.

Hopefully before Christmas... but then you have to wait for Openserve to install again!

Must have been rough :)

I certainly miss fibre, mostly for the incredibly low latency, but 40Mbps internet is hardly living in hardship. I'll be able to wait more patiently for my residential fibre installation this time round, that's for sure.

Yeah, that's a bummer. At least my VDSL here is much better than the ADSL I used to have in Mill Park.

Something I've wondered - is this sudden push to bring fibre to my little area in Walmer because Athol Trollip lives two houses down from me?

LOL, no. Have a look at the coverage map for Walmer and you'll see their logic.

You moved from Mill Park to Walmer? Why the downgrade?

I still have 2MB.

Seriously WTF. it's now been 24h since the supposed fix would be implemented.

Any comment from CW? My Openserve contact suddenly no longer wants anything to do with this... Someone dived head first into hot water it seems.

My issue resolved itself after contacting support and it has been the same problem I have had for quite some time now. My speed would drop on every single type of download and all my tests prove it from downloading Ubuntu torrents to doing an FTP download from the SAIX site. Then after an hour or two everything has sorted itself out and carried on working just fine. Support have no clue as to what is going and so I keep logging a ticket every couple of months when it happens...

why would CW comment here? they haven't been active here for ages. you can always contact live chat and see what they say?

They commented on this mess just a few days ago? They have someone on an official CW Management account so I don't see why they don't use it for major service disruptions like this one. If customers are given an ETA which is not met an update is definitely needed, don't you think?

Good point...didn't see that post. You can't pick and choose to respond. Need to be all the time or not all.

Yes. First it was within 24 hours, then it was supposed to be another 24 hours, then only another 4 hours for the 45 people affected. Then Openserve tested the patch and were supposed to be rolling it out 100 customers at a time (to the supposedly 45 customers still affected?). As you say, WTF.

Today now brings it to a week without the service I paid for. I suppose that all I can do for now is wait and, once fixed, see what CW will do regarding compensation. I am certainly not paying my regular monthly fee this month for a service that has not been provided.
