Or you're watching different streams entirely, and as previously mentioned Twitch is notorious for their unreliability in their various pieces of infrastructure that they've tried to stick together...

I've viewed multiple Twitch streams several times throughout the day, can't say I've noticed any discrepency in streaming quality. Also depends on upload speed of the user broadcasting. Could just be a dodgy stream.

For me it doesn't matter which source I choose, can't even watch anything on medium without it constantly buffering. I'm left staring at a static image the whole time. I've basically given up on twitch

Hey DJ

Last month you mentioned that Home Basic uncapped users will be seeing a change to the way which the account runs. Could I get an idea of how us Home Basic users will be affected or will the current policy remain intact?

You guys should have already seen a substantial performance increase.

Cannot disclose just yet how these products will operate (and are operating) but they will operate similarly to premium but with config tweaks on our side here and there to keep the cost down to you guys...

FYI, fibre plans coming along nicely. This is our own FTTH deployment.

Forecasted numbers indicate around min 50 person signup (house, apartment, flat, complex - it doesn't matter but we have certain density targets) and a rate of R499 per month for a 100Mbps fibre line.

Seem reasonable?

Sounds great.

No. Not acceptable! Because I am stuck with Telkom! :(

I am stuck on 4Mbps. At this stage the best in my area is 10Mbps. Not even VDSL and don"t mention fibre either.

@DJ... some of our neighbours are setting off rockets and stuff. Can you fix them please?

:D

Has the new portal been launched?

I need a new ISP in a few weeks ...

Brakpan is getting? Is this the 123Net claims?

This is our fibre. Not anyone else's. And yes, areas in Primrose can be connected.

www.fibrenetwork.co.za

It seems like they are actively pushing it there. Didn't even know they had phones there.

Thanks, I registered my interest there a while back.

Haha, no you're fine. You're on premium uncapped.

Premium uncapped should see that just about everything operates at line speed unless the source of the download is pretty far, in which case it has nothing to do with us and everything to do with operating system receive windows and round trip time, as well as receive window buffers. I did post a while back about how this all works - basically international is always a bit slower simply because of the way your operating system handles IP traffic and the way IP traffic throughput is impacted by latencies (i.e. the design of the internet). That's why bringing these links closer (like Netflix) improves quality overall...;)

thanks... loving my service more now... and give your online chat guys a lekker bonus this year... their service has been more than commendable...

I presume the microsoft servers are getting hammered for me to be getting 50% line on new Windows 10 release?

Not an issue with the network on our side. I don't have access to MS server stats but their release was yesterday (and a big one), so it's possible. But for this sort of thing just hop on support and ask the guys to assist. I monitored a dozen chats today and a few tickets, and 5 of them were people experiencing issues because their Dropbox, Google Drive, or torrents were uploading at the time. Remember, that temporarily destroys your actual DSL connection due to ADSL being asymmetric and unless you have QoS or limits on the upload it will always have a major impact. Always check your internal LAN and line when trying to ascertain what's going on, or our support guys and girls can help you...

Odd bookface issue ...... some pics not loading on the CW but switching to WA and they all load. Not really a huge thing but it's odd and a weeny bit irritating. Anyone else?

It's literally the same backbone, as in identical other than authentication. Are you using the ISP default DNS?
