Yay!!! CW back in the house! WB, CW Management. Great job on the service, btw. Glad to hear that you're attending to the radio silence problem.

Hi all. As management of Crystal Web we have decided to re-engage with the community via the forums only for now, as numerous customers it appears are upset with us over Shaun's banning. Unfortunately we cannot comment on that for various reasons. Our absence has been in lieu of uncertainty over MyBroadband's position on our company, as we do not wish to dedicate resources such as salaries and time to a forum where the reps may be banned. We have taken the decision not to engage on any subjects of relating to our executive team, as a result and will consider a more regular support orientated approach should all remain peaceful and civil from MyBroadband's management.

No no no. I think you misunderstood. Nobody was upset with YOU about it - we were upset with MyBB about it.

Gotta admit. Some pretty impressive stuff from AH now that they've bought back their shares. Continued data roll over, doubles up capped data. Not bad.

I won't move back however - crap support, bad pings etc. But still. Glad they are getting their groove back.

Hope CW drops a bomb on the ISP world with their up coming announcements.

Prepare yourselves!

Wishing the rep (and the person behind the account/existing user) all the best. I'm sure you have all of our support.
Also big up to the powers that be/Exec Team for recreating a platform for its customers to actively engage the CW team in on. It's been a quiet few months.

Lastly, besides the comms/marketing/product development side of business, the service levels for all other services remain top notch. When I have an issue with performance (which rarely happens), support has always been there to deliver quality service and resolve my issues. As it stands, and given what their competitors are doing (price reduction), I hope there's a big focus on value proposition, while still maintaining those excellent service levels.

Only problem with CW at the moment is the price. All ISP's have dropped the price of their capped accounts except for CW. Go look at WA as an example, 300GB account for R299. I'm currently paying R389 for a 150GB account @ CW. Kinda ridiculous if you think about it

Or Afrihost - R200 (R99 for 50 + 50GB, add on the afrihost+ for R99) and you get 400GB!

It’s time to break our radio silence and blow the lid off what’s happening at Crystal Web. We’ve been quietly working hard in the background to completely revolutionise the broadband landscape in South Africa, and it’s time to make a few announcements in this respect. Let’s start with DSL:

Free-time on capped
We have decided to introduce free-time periods on capped account data for our new Xtreme Home Capped products. We currently offer free data from midnight to 6am. We’re about to turn that on its head, and change it to 6pm. Yes, that is not a typo. Capped customers can now enjoy free data between midnight and 6pm. We will be releasing details about this in the coming days, so hold tight. We will automatically change your package for you so that you don’t have to do anything on your end.

What about pricing?
Well, we’re about to slash that too. Not only will we be introducing lower pricing on uncapped AND capped data, but you will get lower contention on uncapped, and free midnight to 6pm data on Xtreme Home Capped accounts!

OK, but how about more gigs?
Sure thing. Not only will we give you free midnight to 6pm data; lower contention on uncapped; and lower pricing for everyone, but we’ll even upgrade your package. All of these details will be communicated next week in formal product announcements but I wanted you to hear it from me first.

But wait, there is more!
Now, those adjustments alone are game-changers, but there is something even bigger that we have been hiding up our sleeves, testing, and even working with a certain global search engine’s fibre team on for many months now. Wait for it…

We’re tired of waiting around for other operators to upgrade people to 100Mb/s speeds. We’re tired of some of the speeds those are being deployed at. We are tired of the onerous sign-up numbers required to deploy. We’re tired of this only being deployed to areas with an HOA. Basically, we’re tired of the way fast new broadband technologies are being rolled out. So we’ve decided to do something about it, and will be rolling out what we call XtremeTTH to qualifying Crystal Web customers with speeds up to 100Mb/s (upgradeable in some areas to 300Mb/s), and we will put you on a build path to achieve speeds of 1Gbps. And we’re not waiting for other operators to do it for us. We’ll do this for our own customers, and we’ll be sending out communication next week about how this process will work, and what the qualifying criteria is (hint, it’s really not onerous at all). We can even do this in record time!

DSL Lines
We're going to discount these even further in the coming weeks if you migrate it to us, and we're even introducing free upgrades on these for a month to test your next available speed at no risk to you.

So, is that all?
Absolutely not. We have also slayed the mobile data OOBShark and standardised pricing across networks, with reduced rates. We’re launching our VOIP services over our own network. And we are planning something incredible for all future XtremeTTH customers which we would love to talk about now but can’t. Oh, we’re also about to change the Fibre-To-The-Business market for good, too.
So stay tuned next week as there will be a number of incredible product announcements coming your way. There has never been a better time to be a Crystal Web customer.

So to summarise:
More data.
Free data.
Cheaper data.
Upgraded data
Lower contentions
Upgrades for all customers to lightspeed broadband
Mobile data with no Out-Of-Bundle Shark (Paul and I originally started oobshark.co.za)
VOIP (at incredible rates. Oh, did I mention we're giving some of this away?)
DSL Line Discounts and Free Upgrades

I cannot begin to explain how excited we are about this. Oh, and if you want to expedite getting your area lit up on our new XtremeTTH service, start getting people in your area to sign up with us now! It's a first come first served product and requires 50 people in your area to sign up. We also limit the maximum number of connections so that we can maintain maximum throughput for everyone (i.e. no degradation of services. To give you an example of pricing here, we're talking costs less than your DSL for often triple the speeds and reliability). So when I say get people to sign up, I really mean it as we will not over-extend our build-process, so it really is first-come, first-served and you only need 50 people.

We look forward to revealing even more next week to you, so look out for our product announcements then.

Regards

Just got the mailer - looks impressive!

I am probably expecting too much though to think I'll get fibre in my area. DJ said before that there is a fibre system running right past my complex, but initiation costs were quite exorbitant.

Looks like the pot has been stirred, I see this on Crystal Web Managements profile page:

We've solved that problem. Trust me on this - don't assume anything based on past conversations. If we have the numbers and there is fibre close by (we operate over multiple fibre backbones all aggregating into a single NNI) we will build it. We took feedback from the previous processes and problems and found ways to solve those issues.

Anyone in a metro probably auto-qualifies for feasibility and anyone in surrounds we have solutions for as well. Obviously we cannot guarantee feasibility for every location but this is why we have a team performing these checks and communicating with customers. We are in fact busy building the automation systems and notification systems for this.

There is also a new website launching soon with far more functionality. :)

:wtf:

Well I will keep my expectations in check. But it sounds promising.
