They implemented this 1 stream restriction to prevent log-in sharing - hoping that they might regain some subscribers. The irony. I bet they just lost even more subscribers.

And those friends and families that used to share, are still sharing.

they do a thing called "unit testing".

What bullshit is this? I've had an issue with Spotify for the last few weeks and so have plenty others judging by reddit and their forums. I don't suspect you actually believe this, so why say it?

Well it might explain why they break their app rather regularly ...

I understand why they didn't bother testing this feature because no one uses it judging by the breakage being discovered in May while the deployment happened in March. Or maybe it's from a more recent deployment.
