So, put simply, I just wanna know who is "actually" in control of the bandwidth I receive on my fibre connection?

I am with Vumatel and Afrihost. I have a 20/20 premium, uncapped connection; which at times works perfectly and other times not too well at all.
I have read that many RSA lSPs overburden their connections, so high-use periods could be causing my drops in bandwidth, despite paying for their "premium" connection.

I just wanna know if these bandwidth drops are most likely caused by Vuma or Afrihost? Gone are the days of having one ISP to blame (Afri and Vuma just seem to pass the buck to each other).

Also, what kind of real-time download should I expect off a 20mb connection? Say off a platform such as Steam or Blizzard Launcher? I currently get anywhere between 1.7 to 2.4MBs.

Appreciate any feedback :)

Afrihost.

Vuma supplies the last mile, which is 100% dedicated to you, then Afrihost takes over.

My understanding is that it is most likely your ISP. They are applying shaping to your downloads. Afrihost does shape downloads on your premium uncapped account (is says so on the website).

On a 20/20 fiber line, you should be getting very close to 20/20 speeds, consistently. If not, prolly being shaped.
