 please say it aint so. Wrong ISP maybe?
Well, I have an open ticket. I guess I will just have to wait and see what they say. But really the account performs like a donkey. Well, single threaded performance. Of course if I'm going to use IDM with 5 simultaneous downloads, all with 32 connections each, it's going to run at 80MB/s-100MB/s. Now that is something to behold...

So it has its moments but it's like those old Porsches from 1970's that were so difficult to drive, impossible to get off the mark, but once you got into 3rd, 4th and 5th they would absolutely sing!

Any feedback on your ticket?

Nope. I hit them up on Facebook and that got a response albeit a fairly generic one.

A rep phoned me and said they'll escalate. That's 2 escalation calls and counting.

Not very good from the runner up ISP.

Standards are low... look how the winners are getting grilled at the moment... eish, it's a grind finding decent service these days although you seem to have hit the jackpot with Supersonic...

Yeah but for how long. Cool Ideas was once in that spot so it's a rinse and repeat situation.
I will stick SS until they degrade then jump ship if they never do then I'm glad I made the right first choice.

Well, international continues to perform well below par. I poke Home-connect daily about it, drawing the now week old ticket to their attention, but to date a couple of generic responses is about the sum of it. Suppose it could be worse, they could just ignore me altogether!

Anyway if their corporate email structure is as predictable and transparent as I think it is, I was able to email their CEO today too. The mail didn't bounce and I even received a read receipt, so unless there is another Jonathan working at Cipherwave....?

Not bad. They are going the extra mile to get you sorted. Hope it gets sorted. You declined a wireless mesh system. :(
Yeah, should I have accepted? Maybe if I hadn't just dropped R5k on a new router?

Meanwhile...

How come Coreix test results are always so good compared to with just about every other European server?

Well I think it's the closest route. Other servers probably have multiple transit providers as the traffic goes causing slowdowns or even packetloss.

Well if you planning on staying with Home-Connect I would have accepted the offer even if you don't plan on using it right now it might be a nice backup to have if something goes wrong in the future with the expensive router you got now.

If you aren't satisfied with the outcome and plan to move then it's probably best you decline the offer.

Your latency is pretty decent for JHB to London btw. Single threaded downloads should be between 120-150Mbps on a 160ms latency connection.

Very nice of them to follow up with you and hopefully get you sorted. Do keep the thread updated. :)

So I was called back at 15h00 sharp to troubleshoot. This involved running a number of single and multi threaded speed tests to QTS London, Hong Kong and Sacremento.

The net result is the same though. Poor single threaded throughput to international.... Multi thread to the requested destinations was damn good though...

Isn't everyone forgetting the iperf test?

Quite a mixed bag...
I used IDM but connections set to 1 so effectively single threaded download in every example....
I generally don't use Real-debrid for streaming but I have tested it on the new account and they worked well.
