Anyone worried about the bulge of the 14 Pro/Pro Max camera getting scratched?

Bought 3 cases and while they have raised edges I am still paranoid about the camera's glass cracking.

It can happen if dropped wrong, lol. My mates 12 Pro Max has:
- Cracked main camera
- Bent frame

He works in a workshop and tends to put his phones in his back pocket so that’s the bend explained and then the camera crack is due to his case being flush with the lenses (he got a slim cheap case) and dropping the phone on concrete floor.

I think as long as the case has a proper lip around the camera that causes the camera to sit a little flush, you’ll be fine.

My impression was that it was an offer valid in the moment only. I assume if I returned even later the same day that the inspection process would be done again from scratch. After all, the device could pick up damage in between.

To prepare for a trade-in is no different than preparing for a new phone.
  • Backup your Google Authenticator codes
  • Backup WhatsApp
  • Ensure all files and images are in the cloud
  • Screenshot your home screens if you aren't going to restore the entire phone
  • Don't factory reset until you've accepted the trade-in offer
  • Oh, and make sure you have the phone's original box and all its contents.

So if i just want to see what they offer, i don’t have to clear phone? And they don’t require any phone password or anything?

No, you don’t have to reset the device just for the inspection. They will need you on hand if your device requires Face ID to unlock.

You guys are getting some large trade in values.

Apple definitely has its flaws with iPhone (iOS 16 bugs amongst many), but I have to say the software experience for me on iOS has been unrivalled, especially after having used Androids for over 10 years as my main device. I hit copy on my iPad Pro and hit paste on my iPhone and boom transferred over effortlessly like they are one device, lol. The ecosystem is disgustingly good, though I think Apple need to take a chill pill on adding more new features.

The more you get into the ecosystem the better it becomes, people on here love to tell you otherwise, but just take a look at how Google and Samsung are creating their own ecosystems. I'm fortunate enough that I can use macOS for work as well as our stuff is mostly web based and platform agnostic. Things like handoff, universal control/clipboard, airdrop etc. have changed my mindset and I no longer really think of my devices as separate things, rather just extensions of one another. The pitfalls being that if you decide to switch it becomes a pain, but for now I'm super happy with Apple's ecosystem. Just need to get an iPad as well at some point ;D

I'm still having an issue with my phone slowing down to a crawl when deleting files. If I delete more than a gigs worth of files the phone crawls for around 15 minutes, so much so that I have to put it down and just leave it or I get super frustrated. We managed to replicate the issue at the Apple store in Bangkok a few weeks back with the demo phone, so it's not just me. Other than that I'm really enjoying it.

I went to the store yesterday.
Apparently the offer expires once you leave, which is understandable.
They couldn't do the assessment as they said I need to book an appointment

Curious, what type of files and from where are you deleting, local phone or iCloud storage?

In terms of cases, I got a beefy UAG clear case for R699 from Vodacom, paired with a glass Body Glove screen protector (which my VC sales rep installed absolutely meticulously for me). I'm happy with both: the clear case will take serious falls and extends past the cameras, and the screen protector is impossible to feel (it feels like a normal glass screen).

I must admit it's worth paying the premium just to remove the screen protector anxiety.

First time my phoned warned me it was getting to hot and stopped charging.

Version 14 is cringe
It does that to protect the battery ... isn't that a good thing? It just did it for the first couple days, now it doesn't anymore. I think it takes strain when it's indexing all the files and the Battery Management is still settling in too.
