iPhone 14 discussions

It does that to protect the battery ... isn't that a good thing? It just did it for the first couple days, now it doesn't anymore. I think it takes strain when it's indexing all the files and the Battery Management is still settling in too.

Its not supposed to get that hot in the first place

First time my phoned warned me it was getting too hot and stopped charging.

Version 14 is cringe

How is that the phones fault??

The iPhone shuts down when the temperature is in excess of 45C to protect the battery.

You're clearly exceeding it's rated operating parameters. That's nothing more than user error, and fringes on device abuse.

It never does. It's 100% user error. You are either using the phone with high-powered apps such as games whilst charging, or the phone does not have sufficient cooling when charging (especially with wireless charging, as wireless generates more heat than a physical cable under normal conditions).

To be fair I recently wiped my Samsung Galaxy with some military-spec data generator and it got real toasty too. Modern phones are powerful but aren’t designed to be maxed out for long.

I think it may be an iOS 16 issue. My iPhone 13 has also given me this warning - I never had it once on previous iOS, and I'm charging using a fast charger and not using my phone at all.

Haven’t had any heat warnings on my 13 PM, but then again I am mostly using my 12W charger overnight, my 18W charger lives in my work bag unless I need to top up.

Like many has thought, the 13 PM makes more sense than the 14 Plus.

ULTIMATE iPhone 14 Plus vs 14 Pro Max vs 13 Pro Max test! - Luke Miani

Yeah, they should have done a little more with the 14 Plus, like a 90hz screen., but anyway it is what it is, great phone for those who don’t want the bulk of a Pro Max. For some reason I am a really big fan of the direction they are taking with 14 Plus but I think they need to be a bit more intentional when they create its successor.

The battery drain issue doesn't seem to be getting better with the next iOS version (16.1). Beta 4, which dropped on Monday, is still draining battery. Apple is almost certainly aware of this, hopefully a fix comes soon. I'm inclined to this is a software thing and not an iPhone 14 specific thing.

I'm not seeing battery drain on Beta 4, I wonder why it's only affecting some people.

5 hours standby, 1% battery use.

I would disagree this time, the 14 Pro is worth the extra, the 14 should be called a 13s.

Sure, I kind of agree with you on that point, but generally speaking and looking back through the generations, I personally wouldn’t splash the extra for a pro.
