Thats a damn good price.... though i think they have the resolution on the screen wrong though..... i think the 450 is 1024x768..not 1366x768

Its right, the D4xx are HD (1365x768), its the C4xx that are only HD Ready (1024x768)

Actually, all the 42 / 43" models are 1024 x 768... the D430, D450, D490, C430, C450. Some spec online are wrong - the official Samsung spec says 1024x768.
The 50" models are 1366 x 768.

OK see what you mean.
Means the newer 43" D4xx aren't great value for money (if you want to experience the benefits of anything beyond SD).

Bad advice, not true, the majority of forumites here chose PS42C4xx over LA40C5xx for HD (720p) content.
And the Samsung websites say that the new PS43D4xx are 1280x720?

I Like the LG's, but its not really that cheap, rather check on HiFiCorp, they have a special on the new 43" Samsung plasma's for R5500, its bigger and according to the site it has a higher resolution, and you save R300

Which comes in a 1280 pixel width format that the 42/3" D4xx & C4xx's circuitry has to continually downscale to 1024, compromising image clarity/fidelity.

Both are identical mate... PN = North America... Same like LA/PS = Africa/Australia, LN = North America... LE = Europe...
So no, I can't agree that you see what's going on.

You're making it out to be a bigger "problem" than it is in real life - in my experience, as well as the experience of tons of forumites who chose 1024x768 16:9 (rectangular pixels) entry plasma over 1920x1080 entry LCD for 720p (± 1280x720) content. On paper, your point makes sense; however in real life it's a different story where the plasma is completely competent at displaying 720p, as well as it having better overall picture quality (blacks, colours, motion, excellent internal processing) than entry LCD. Also another thing to remember is that when you are further than 1.5m away from a ±40" TV, the benefit of full HD 1080p, let alone 720p, starts diminishing. One more thing, a regular forumite compared the entry plasma vs entry LCD at a 1080p TRON rip, and said the plasma won hands down - even when up close.

Did i argue that PN = North America and PS = Other ?
i simply stated that on the official Samsung website the two different model numbers have different specs, if you are not happy with it, take it up with Samsung (for crying out loud)
