I am fully aware of what you are saying, but please tell me how am i wrong?, everyone above says its 1024x768 except for you, but im wrong?, i also fail to see how anyone is wrong since this info all comes from Samsung's website, which makes Samsung’s site wrong
And to be more specific, all sites

Clearly indicates it has a resolution of 1024x768
And the only site that has it at 1280x720 is

Are you always like this?, all I did was say/quote what’s on the websites, on the US website you quoted it’s a PN in the model number, and in all other websites ZA, UK and AU its PS
So I simply stated what I saw, PN43C450 = 1280x720 and PS = 1024x768
Whenever it’s identical the same TV and/or Samsung’s website is wrong I really cannot give a rats @ss, I simply said what I saw, this does not make ME wrong in quoting samsung’s website

I differentiated between them because they have different specs, if it’s the same model then they would have had the same specs, since its different specs I assumed its different models, this does not make me wrong, this makes the source wrong (aka Samsung)
PA and PN models are not quite identical. For example, they have different tuners, the South African model comes with a analogue tuner while most other international ones have digital tuners .
There could be a chance that SA models use a different panel (1024) than international ones (1280)... Just a thought. The TV models carry a few additional letters after the PS43D4XX, so there could well be other regional specs...

Bit of a simplistic example without detail ... what were the circumstances, setup, equip used?
Me, I use my PS3 as a media player, all rips < 1080p are upscaled and sent to the TV at its native 1920x1080@60Hz res/refresh. The PS3's cell processors have so much signal crunching horsepower that the upscaling is near flawless, while the TV's circuitry is not interfering in any way as the incoming signal matches its native capabilities.
For me this provides a crisp hi-def experience, which I do not believe can be bettered by a low-res 1024 screen which has to reduce/compromise the source fidelity. And having a slight edge on colour contrast is not enough to compensate.
Then when we get to FHD, PS3 handles 1080p files perfectly without breaking a sweat, something the Samsung Media Player in lower-end TVs struggles with.
It is very common TV manufactures and not only, car manufactures come in mind as well, are selling better specs TVs and cars for american market. Both 43D450&490 that we are getting here are 1024x768. 51" 4 series is 1365x768 maybe this is how the confusion comes. Panasonic does exact same think, panels that they sell in USA are better specs then the panels they sell in Europe, Asia and AU. Don't know about Japan market.

Why would everything suddenly change for one TV? Specs wise, all PS / PN, and LA / LN / LE have always been the same/99% the same as in other regions. Certainly resolution has never been any different, mainly cosmetic differences, panel types, types of screen covering, etc.

I will be amazed if the American one is indeed 1280x720. Kudos to ever finds out.

I have read on the US forums (avsforums), that Samsung 42/43" sets are definitely all 1024x768... there was some wrong info released by Samsung when the models were launched this year... Guys that have the set in the US also checked in the proper printed manual.

I was advised about 2 months ago on a good bargain however never went through due to other matters , in anycase looking for a 42/43" Plasma for DSTV SD content only.
If possible a great deal in the DBN area otherwise online. Thanks everyone & PP

Answer is as clear as day. Plasma, PS43D450 @ R5,500 or the slightly older PS42C430 @ R4,500. Go check in store. Check out the reflections.
I've heard Govan Mani's pricing is quite good.
Just seen in the latest Dion Wired online brochure they're selling the Samsung 51D550 for R11,999.00(which is a bit pricey) but right next to that advert is the one for the Samsung 59D550 also for R11,999.00. 12000 for a 59" Full HD 3DTV is an amazing price IMO.
That must be a mistake, 51" and 59" of the same model costing the same price?
If that price is correct it is an absolute bargain!
