I will give them a call tomorrow morning to see what they say, I have only used the line for streaming, gaming and a 2gb torrent for testing so I doubt I have even gone over 400gb usage for the entire last month.

When you use VPN are you using a local VPn server? Any slight packetloss will cause twitch to buffer. I'm streaming twitch just fine this side. If shaping was a thing they would rather shaped p2p and leave streaming untouched. They aren't shaping you have packetloss on your line unfortunately. If you follow the cool ideas thread you will see the same pattern. Twitch buffering for some but others not.

Using a vpn connecting to NYC and everything wotks perfectly. I wouldn't be bothered if it was just twitch but I can't stream ANYTHING other than youtube and netflix.

Crunchyroll, hidive, amazon prime, funimation etc... all buffer on anything above 480p.

I tried both tunnlebear and windscribe vpns and streaming is smooth as butter.

I'm not sure what is going on your side then but I'm perfect this side on Openserve. I'm hitting some heavy torrents since the morning maxing my 200Mbps download and ~50% upload @ 50Mbps and it's been full speed non stop. Only problem is the Zyxel froze completely like 30min or so ago. Maybe the constant high speed.

Download tcpoptimizer
run as admin
set slider to 100+ or your linespeed, choose optimal and restart, assuming you're running windows.

so torrents on bitcomet are maxing my line speed and downloading at a constant 6MB/s so i guess it might not be shaping after all. i guess the only culprit could be a faulty router as i don't know how i can max torrents but not stream above 480p, another sign of a faulty router is that custom dns in windows, android and xbox one doesn't seem to work.

Well that is something you have to investigate but as I mentioned if a ISP is shaping torrents are usually the first they go to. They won't leave torrents open and then shape streaming does not make sense.

Maybe start with a cheap backup router and see what is going on. Try forcing the DNS on your PC instead of in the router. Bypass the router all together by connecting to the ONT or CPE directly and then seeing if it works.

This is my single to New York so basically means any streaming should work without buffering after the initial buffer

Yeah I agree that torrents should be the first to get shaped. I have tried the dns on the router, pc under network settings, android and xbox one, none of of them recognise the dns 80% of the time. The dns is besides the point though as it doesn't matter because when everything is on vanilla it still buffers.

I will phone supersonic in the morning just to double check and see what can be done about the router. If they eont replace it then I might just buy a d-link off axxess for R799.

Does it work by conne ting my pc straight to the ONT?

The terms clearly say the router is insured by Supersonic and will replaced if faulty at anytime for the duration you remain a Supersonic client. So contact them and ask if they can organize a swap out.

Something does seem to be very wrong with my single thread download to london.Screenshot_20190407-200203.png

Yeah something is wrong even with the latency. NYC should be no higher than 236ms and London no higher than 166-167ms.

Telkom lte was much more stable with streaming and here I though fibre with vumatel would remove all the hedaches:crying:

I guess all I can do at the moment is wait until morning and phone in to tech support.

Not sure if you follow other fibre threads like Cool Ideas ect but what I have seen worst is Octotel and then issues with Vumatel and packetloss is almost a daily issue with people reporting problems. People just don't complain about Openserve. I honestly think Openserve is the best or one of the best Fibre networks in SA. Expensive data because of IPC but sooooooo good. My Openserve line has not been down once or had any packet loss since installation on the 4th of Jan.

I'm with Axxess on Vumatel in JHB and in same position this evening. 20mbit line getting 2mbit to local servers. Very rare situation, it's normally 100%.

I think I may have found the problem with regards to my smart dns issues and it lies with supersonic themselves because I was still having dns issues when connecting straight to the cpe box.

So I found an article from MBB from back in 2015(link at the bottom of post) where users had this exact same problem and received notices that only their own dns and pre determined dns services may be used. Now I am assuming this is still in affect after the merge as I am having yhis exact problem.
