A high ping is a symptom of over shaping. It could also indicate other problems, so a comparison is advised.

The unshaped account is supposed to be better for gaming. There is an MWEB Gaming Feedback thread here.

No need for unshaped, uncaped. Yes it would be better but should not make that much difference, especially for local and as for international, I've played Eve on a shaped account for years , both as 4 meg or 384k. Those pings are high, I would think it's something else.

Having weird connectivity atm. Generally we cant browse for more than a few secs before getting time out errors/loss of connection. Weirdly, at this time of night (12:31) it works perfectly. I've contacted mweb who say the problem is through telkom and noise on the line, but wouldnt this be a consistent bad connection?

Had telkom round twice (both through mweb) and they couldnt find anything wrong, and cant get to the bottom of it. Anyone here have any ideas on what it might be/how to get it fixed?

Whenever I try and download something it's starts off OK, then grinds to a halt, until the download fails. I'm talking about small files, and not torrents etc.. This is what my speedtest looks like:

Pings are fine, but the throughput sucks.....for a 4mb line!

Please can I maybe get what I'm paying for?

Hi TheYak

Are you only getting these speeds with downloading? What is your speed like when browsing?

Everything is slow. Browsing, HTTP downloads, Torrents. The whole caboodle, the whole of yesterday.

Edit: At 5AM this morning, I'm getting 189k/s. So I don't know what is going on here, guys. All I know is that it's unbelievably frustrating.

Hi kimbo

I have re-authed your account, please power down for 20-30 minutes and test your connection.

Please be advised that a 384 shaped account is not suitable for downloading. What speeds were you getting with your torrent downloads?
