Ok so can someone explain why Rouxenator get 6kb/s and the rest of us nothing
Well, I have purchased Dues Ex on steam, it has been pre-downloaded but I'm pretty sure it requires steam online to play. Everything was running perfectly happy this morning whereas I've had connectivity issues from early afternoon to 11pm at night.
If I get home and can't play what I purchased with a service that I'm paying for, it's not the game thats going to be blamed, I will cancel the account and advise the CPA of the notice period being unfair due to lack of service during said notice period. Either way you will lose a customer.
I've had enough of this nonsense this week.
Well I too am in CT and when I done a trace (and I stand corrected) i too jump onto Seacom and as mentioned I get sporadic behaviour on and only on my MWEB Accounthes in cpt, he uses sat-3 instead of seacom
Called Mweb support last night and they explained that because of the seacom link being down couple of weeks back, they running low on bandwith (seems like they being rationed by seacom). They waiting on bandwith allocation from Seacom which could happen in the next week or so.They is why they shaping more heavily than normal. Now I don't know how true this is but a rep told me this when i called technical support.
I uploaded a 1.6 Mb picture to filesonic this morning before 8 and downloaded it twice.
Now at 09:00 I am unable to download it from filesonic, but downloaded ±300Mb without problem from another hosting service. To my simple mind this means that filesonic is blocked and not shaped.
Here is the link

Can everybody test this and see if you can download the picture then complete this table below

I believe that the p2p experience has dipped a bit in the last few weeks. Honestly this is too be expected from time, but the good news is that we do have a fairly significant upgrade to our network planned. The international bandwidth is actually already in place but our additional IPC requirements are running a little behind schedule. Telkom are pulling out all the stops to get this in place and we should see the upgrades coming through by the end of next week, possibly sooner.
hes in cpt, he uses sat-3 instead of seacom
Hi Everyone
I'm going to repost this response which I gave to schumi yesterday as it appears many of you did not read it:
@Will
I did read your reply but did not find it sufficient to explain the problems I'm experiencing.
1) You mention a dip in p2p speeds. I take it you include downloading from file hosting sites in this statement even though it uses a different protocol. It surely must be because I am Afrikaans speaking that I misunderstood your use of the word dip. In Afrikaans that would mean 'n slight slowdown. However my experience and that of other people on this forum have been that p2p (and file hosting) has dipped, drowned and is now dead. I think we should rename these services to ZOMBIE services seeing that they miraculously return to live at around 12 pm and die again as the sun come up.
2) You mention that a network upgrade is in place and some parts running behind schedule. I will take this as an admission that MWEB has some kind of network problem then, although I would have liked - as a paying customer - to be fully informed of exactly what the problem is. I still find it strange that network capacity problems can suddenly appear in one day (16 August) - leading to worse experience on shaped protocols - to the point of certain services being inaccessable.
3) I have read MWEB's acceptable use policy and realise that you are fully covered. My intension in raising issues was not too force you to restore service levels to what it was before 16 August (although that would be nice) but just to get an honest answer from MWEB. If you are implementing more stringent shaping policies (as I would think is obvious to most readers of this thread) JUST INFORM ME or provide me with an intelligent alternative answer to my experience on your network so that I could make an informed decision on my spending of R899 per month for internet access.
I will not raise this issue anymore as an answer is obviously not forthcoming. I wait in anticipation for the network upgrade to be completed (Where on MWEB's website will I be able to see progress on this?) and hopefully I will then be able to go back to enjoying the internet.
