Hi guys :-)
About a few years ago I discovered an open WiFi network near my place. I've been using it ever since well until recently when it just stopped working. This was no ordinary WiFi, no one seemed to care for it and still had default settings e.g its name "wlan-ap". With my network skills I managed to hack into its configuration page and change its wlan settings to secured. I started tethering the WiFi to my PC and using it for basically every thing and even extended the connection to my ps3. Eventually the internet part stopped working although the WiFi still connects. When I open the router configuration page I noticed that it says "xDsl line not synchronized" and the actual owner hasn't bothered to check his ADSL line. What should I do, I suspect our local shell garage is the source of this WiFi but I'm scared to approach them and help or maybe that error message means they stopped paying for their ADSL line. Please advise me guys I'm at wits end. I haven't played GTA online in two months.

About a few months ago, 'your internet' stopped working...
 
Presumably you're quite happy with Zuma and other gov official leeching off the taxpayer for their own private benefit. You clearly have no problem using other people's money without their permission.

It's called stealing.

What's troubling is that you don't have any scruples about furtively using someone else's connection without their knowledge or permission.

Oh and it really doesn't matter whether they have passwords or not. It really doesn't matter if your neighbour has a fence around her property or not, or whether she locks her door or not -- you have have no right to go onto her property or enter her house because she doesn't lock it. If you had been properly formed, your own personal sense of right would stop you from doing so, so it's useless trying to shift the blame to them because they didn't have security ... that's like the burglar saying "well, they didn't lock their door so I took that as permission to enter the house and help myself".

It's fatuous and fallacious to argue that the wifi reaches your property and therefore it's fair game for you to hack in from your own property. That's what radio does. It's still her property and bandwidth and equipment and internet subscription and money to pay for it all. There's a "natural servitude" for wifi to traverse property boundaries, and the social and ethical understanding is that it remains private property until the owner gives you permission to use it.

Your kind of thinking and acting is what's ruining the world for everyone else.

Time to repent and stop stealing.

And get your own blerry internet, paid for by your own labour.

No one was using it obviously, or they would have had it reset and secured as soon is it didn't work (the wifi that is, maybe the user/s only used the LAN ports?)...

Anyway, tough luck Laserbeam, time to move on.
 
What scares me, is that everyone here is calling this guy a thief, it is just stealing digital access mean but all say it is fine to steal digital content....a thief is a thief. A Pirate is also a thief.

i cannot for the life of me understand how someone can

1) steal from some one else, because this is what it is
2) come to a forum and ask for advice on what to do about it??
3) be such a cheapskate!!!

FS man, get your own internet and stop thinking it morally correct to steal other peoples bandwidth!
