So, on Thursday I drove from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth via Wellington and Bain's Kloof pass and then down Route 62, on a Honda CBR250R.

13 hours and 830 KMs later I finally weaved my sorry ass into PE, by this point I was seeing double, suffered two (metaphorically) broken wrists, vibrating fingers and a backside that had gone numb 300 KMs in.

Intense is not a strong enough word...

Well, I stopped a couple of times for petrol and snacks and the like, and had a quick lunch at Ronnie's Sex Shop. I also got lost in Paarl for a while. But other than that, pretty much. It was not a pleasant experience, all in all. Doing it again on Wednesday! Except this time, I will do it at a relaxed pace, and take the N2.

**** me dude, that's hardcore.

I did Cape Town to PE in one go by the normal N2 not so scenic route which was 700km on my Buell and there and then made the rule I would never ever do more than 500km in a single day on any bike, it's just not worth it.

Granted the CBR has more wind protection but I'm sure it's chomping at the bit to maintain speed.

Took me about 9 hours from what I remember.

Do yourself a favour and sleep over in De Rust at Olivier's Rust (book on Lekkerslaap) it should be R450 max and has aircon and free wifi and a great eatery at their own location (don't eat next door at Harry's).

Come into De Rust from the back via Uniondale. It's almost exactly half way.
 
Decided to take a ride out to cullinan myself. Weather is awesome for riding. Nice and cool.

Anyone suggest a nice place to go from Centurion? Say less than 400 kms round trip.
Ideally with some twisties.
 
Riding bikes is simply too ****ing awesome.

Second day riding today after two weeks of parking the bike and my entire demeanor is better.

Haarties via Zilkaatsnek .... then on to Magaliesburg through Hekpoort. Have lunch at Black Horse Brewery. Back to Haarties on the dish road.
Find your way back home from there
 
So, the trip back up the N2 was MUCH easier.

I'm proud of my little bike, it did a long haul at pretty much full throttle the whole way with no complaints at all.

It's absolutely time for an upgrade - I very much enjoy these sorts of trips and now need a more suitable bike for them.

Nice Copa.

Looks like it was an epic one.

Just shows you it's not always the bike that makes the journey.

CT to PE was simply ridiculous, as I went through to Paarl, where I got lost for a while, then Wellington > Bain's Kloof and down Route 62. Was about 13 ****ing hours...

Trip back, I came straight up the N2, and probably took around 8/9 hours.

It's not a fast bike, but I can comfortably break the speed limit...
 
Felt so sad after watching this guy lost his life... all the gear won't save your incompetents.

As a biker, if you crash, you'll be worst off.

It's always a welcome reminder to ride appropriately.

Most accidents can be avoided.
