New Webafrica Network Migration

Well my capped account is being shapped. Can't use YouTube after 18:00, but if I switch to my free 1gb afrihost account YouTube just works fine. Been like this now for atleast a week.

Morning @Grubscrew

Interesting:unsure:. The only Fair Use Policy applied to our service options are to the Openserve uncapped connections. Which will go under review once all our clients are successfully on the new network (watch the space)

Please DM your inquiry ticket ref#, will have the senior techs further investigate and respond asap today to assist

Thanks a mil for your feedback

Lol, fair use policy on a capped account. Yes I am on a 40mb Vdsl telkom line that can't stream YouTube on 240p without buffering.

I will pm you my account details and then you can see the crappy replies support gave me.

*Noted and agreed FUP is applied to uncapped data plans - Openserve will be migrated to the new network within the next upcoming 2 weeks max. , to allow you to test the data traffic on the new network.

Thank you for the DM. We will report your feedback and will have a look at the performance of this capped data only connection (VDSL managed by Telkom) when migrated to the new network

I'm not sure if this process is the reason for having extremely bad ping spikes lately but I sure hope it improves soon as it gets really frustrating trying to game online.

20Mbps fibre speed unchanged on the new network. Octotel Oranjezicht, Cape Town

Kindly note that Openserve data plans will be migrated within the next 2 week to the new network

Please DM your speed test results or kindly confirm the ticket ref# logged including the connection performance speed test on the new network

Any update on the Openserve accounts - the old network is really bad these days

I have also reopened my previous ticket from when this was really bad too. Switched to a prepaid axcess account (same fibre line) and it has been running all night with zero packet loss.

Good Morning

We are planning to have the Openserve service migrated soon - you will receive an email notification once your specific account has been switched over

We have reported your feedback to the engineers monitoring the network

Hmm this sounds familiar. A few years back WA did the same thing, built out their own network and ran with that for a few years.
Then the announcement came that running your own networks is a silly thing and that rather focussing on the core aspects of the business while outsourcing the networks was the way forward.
And it all starts again from scratch now.

@WebAfrica Helper my Internet has been offline for more than an hour after the switch over. I logged a call on your website as well. You guys quoted 10min downtime max... Experience not so great thus far.

My only question is this, will international speeds improve ? Im not lookinf for miracles and understand that latency will never be that great but currently when playing on international servers there are about no diffs between a 10Mb adsl line vs a 100Mb fibre line for me.

yeah struggling tonight on the old network, everything is buffering
100/50 line

Hi

I am in Johannesburg South and have lost connectivity after receiving an email about the migration.

I have followed the steps as per email however there is still no connectivity.

Also called the support center and no one answered, ended up logging a ticket

Waiting desperately

Hi

Received the migration email. Followed the instructions. Unable to connect, logged a call. Received email response with instructions. Followed the steps, still no luck. Called contact centre, no answer.

Not a good experience. Was expecting “10 minutes” downtime during switch over.

I hope it’s resolved soon.

Hi
