New Webafrica Network Migration

I am in Alberton JHB South , still no internet logged a call and recieved a generic troubleshooting response and they closed the ticket ....... @webafrica this is not on , i have not had one days problems until now....can we please get a decent answer on what the problem is

I am in Northcliff (Johannesburg via Vumatel) I was migrated late yesterday or somewhere overnight. The process seems to have gone through smoothly enough and the speed throughput currently seems to be there and there abouts. The question I have though is that if I use Speedtest it picks up the nearest server as Bloemfontein (?). When I use this server to test I get 1ms response but if I change and test on Johannesburg - Web Africa I get 20ms?

Hi, i was also Migrated yesterday morning, rebooted for a min, then eventually an hour, still not connected. Can WebAfrica at least get info on the estimated time of recovery because this is frustrating.

When you say reboot, are you including your CPE equipment and not just the router?

Routing issue

Yes, i started by rebooting the router as instructed and it didn’t work, and eventually switched off the power completely. Still didn’t work.

Routing issue
Yeah, I know as much but have to report it right? :)
I work from home a lot, and also notice that my previous single digit latency is now in the 40-50ms band. Feels like the traffic is being routed to Cape Town and back.

We were moved over to the new network yesterday Evotel in Edenvale and the improvements showed from the test results. faster download and lower ping. The nighttime traffic also didn't affect the ping to the extent it did before the migration. I'm happy with the migration so far thanks WebAfrica

I canceled my Web Africa account that I have had for 4+ years yesterday because the total lack of support has just finally become unbearable. I have a 100mbit 300GB Pro capped account so shaping should not be applied ever. Not that any of the support personnel could tell me what made the Pro account better than a normal capped account. (having lower contention ratio is all I can imagine but with my issue that is obviously not the case) Except to bring in extra profit for less data.

The last month (from 29 May to be exact) my speeds and latency during peak times (19:00 - 22:00) has been next to useless. Youtube vids drop to 144p quality and then starts to buffer. Gaming latency move from 200ms to 4000ms+. I tested with a loaner account from Openserve and all was 100% fine on that account. And beside the fact that Web Africa has done nothing, they just pretty much ignore the support ticket and e-mails out right. And to add some insult the month old ticket still has "low priority" even after repeated phone calls and requests to escalate.

I am hoping that the new infrastructure will be amazing for everyone involved but it won't change the lack support that is so obvious from issues like this.

I am in Weltevreden Park (Jhb) and was migrated yesterday. Speeds are the same as it was prior to migration but streaming on Showmax has suddenly started buffering (never ever used to buffer). I have a 20mbps up and down line through VUMATEL

WA is sending conflicting emails about the move

Is there a way to tell if you have been migrated , like new up range ?

If you have my luck, you log a ticket, they action it and close it instantly. You have to log a fault again to get a response.

New ip range starts with 102.x.x.x.

Also, if you do a speedtest, it will say your ISP is Web Africa instead of Internet Solutions.

That is correct @Tinuva

The indication to confirm the connection has been successfully migrated would be the speed test showing WEBAFRICA-NETWORKS

Thank you for your feedback @Vulcania32 :thumbsup:

We are closely monitoring the connection traffic of the migrated accounts - your feedback confirms we are heading in the right direction ...fast :sneaky:
