Results of the best and worst ADSL ISPs in SA are in - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/676691-Best-and-worst-ADSL-ISPs-in-South-Africa

MyBroadband chose to not publish our results as we're still a new entrant on the market, but they did disclose the results to us:

Value: 7.81
Network: 7.56
Support: 8.53
Average: 7.97

Based on these scores, we'd have come first as the overall top ISP in South Africa. Hopefully we're no longer considered a new entrant for the next round of selections.

Thank you to everyone who participated - we really do appreciate it, and we'll continue to push for better and better benchmarks in all departments.

I have made the right choice then. :)

Torrents seem to be dead again :(

What's going on

Definitely not able to replicate the problem here on our test lines in JHB. Torrents are not blocked at all and managed half line speed now on torrents on a normal uncapped account.

But I also cannot reconcile your forum name to your account, so it's really best to ask support if there are any issues, or if they can investigate what the issue may be for you.

Hi all,

My apologies about this, but support will be offline tonight as we undergo a revamp of all support systems. We will be offline from 7pm and will reopen support from 8am tomorrow morning (or sooner if we can get all of the work completed tonight).

These changes are absolutely necessary to begin integrating new systems.

Royal Ascot, web pages. Most aren't snappy and some don't load at all. I don't think it's an issue just yet.

Can you switch to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and see if it resolves the problem with slowish browsing?

I have, doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

Youtube streaming is perfect though. It's more images and gifs and some such that seem to be taking extra long. Again, not too worried.

Actually it seems to be flying now. :S Maybe I'm just visiting junk sites. :D

CW are you using a half speed step down method for NNTP downloads at the moment during peak times...? I have now downloaded five +-80mb files. The first two came down at 800-900kb/s. The second two at 400 odd kb/s and now the last one is running at 100-200kb/s.

I've just had a client down for over a week in GTown with no feedback, I'm told they're upgrading the exchange which is believable as now the service is restored we're finally getting the 4mbps we've been paying for :)

I still have the same issue where, during office hours, my CW NNTP downloads come down at 400KB/s and slowly dropping down to around 350KB/s. After hours, between, 11PM to 12am, and 6am the system is borked. It is all over the show, everything from between sub-100KB/s and 170KB/s, peaking to about 280KB/s and dropping the thread completely for items older than 900 days.

With Astra Web, it is a smooth constant line of 410KB/s dipping on occasion to 395KB/s.

Something is definitely not right on the CW NNTP server from 01 Dec 2014 and nobody can tell me what gives. Packet loss of 10 to 100% at times when running MTR's and pathpings to news.crystalweb.co.za on the new network.

P.S. This includes downloads with my backup ISP account.
