Don't be unpleasant. I'm talking about in the event of downloads actually being shaped, NOT the current problems being experienced.

Not once in my CW experience, and I've been with them since a month after they soft-launched to a few testers, has my downloading been shaped - with the exception of things like NNTP.
And you know what, once you hit your 200GB threshold or whatever it is, your downloads WILL be shaped. Reason? Services that let you download torrents via HTTP in order to bypass shaping of P2P traffic, and suchlike things.

If you burn through your unshaped allocation in a week and are then unhappy that you can't download the whole internet at line speed in the next 3 weeks, you're on the wrong product with all due respect.

Are you an ISP?
Are you CW?
Nope

You were lucky and many of us were not.
In fact, it seems a very large percentage were not getting the advertised product.

So what does that tell you?
That perhaps there was a _problem_ with your account, and not with mine? Does that mean that we have different FUPs? Nope. Means there was a hiccup, and I'm willing to bet it wasn't intentional.

Did you not read what I wrote above?
I only over used 50Gb on my CW account, never more, probably less actually.

My point is, I'm "burning through my unshaped allocation" (as you put it) using Netflix streaming, which is a realtime service anyway. I'm not burning through it downloading the world.
So if I'm on the wrong product then you tell me - what are streamers supposed to use? Two accounts?

I was with them for 5 months.
Live chat, support, etc. no luck.
Alternate ISP, 100% line quality all day.

If it take an ISP 5 months to provision an account correctly then I have nothing more to say here.

data is data though...? Why should some data be free?

Then why are you in this thread?

It's like you're not even reading what I posted earlier. I'm not going to argue this with you. I DID say I realise data is data when it comes to CW's upstream providers, so I don't expect to just get data for free, I was asking if there was any possible solution when it comes to the 2-network system.

I'm not complaining about general slow download speeds, I know there's a problem at the moment that is being resolved pretty quickly, and I commend CW for working on it. Totally separate thing I'm talking about here.

Honestly, if you're having a bad day or had a crappy cup of coffee this morning or whatever, don't take it out on me. I'm here to engage with CW to see what options there are, not to spend my morning fighting with you. I'm still not sure why, when I ask for ideas and possible solutions to a common problem (while being constructive and not just going "zomg this is crap, wtf"), everyone and their siblings get defensive.

Read my post from before:

If you are expecting an account that is always unshaped, then move to their unshaped account. That way you can stream as much as you want and download as much as you want without bothering about the 200gb threshold. You WILL pay more because that is what you are asking for.

I really think you are being unreasonable here.

Edit: on your current account CW give you 200gb of unshaped data to use. It is your responsibility to use it wisely. Not theirs.

Unshaped account is capped.
It's a fact that CW have stated many times.

I think it was bad chicken, to be honest.

Anyway, I have read and understood what you said. You seem to want streaming data (the most expensive sort of data, since it has to be prioritised high and unshaped) to somehow not count towards your unshaped data allocation?

You get a cap on all accounts.
It's a known fact.
CW have even stated the caps.
I had a 200GB cap on my 20Mb line.

That's not a cap on the account. It's a cap on the unshaped allocation to the account. Subtle difference, mainly in that many of your services will continue running at line speed, instead of stopping dead, which is what a cap would do.

GG Crystal Web, well played.
No thanks.

I'll use my data when I want, I payed for it.
Let me buy more if I use my data.
Don't give me some special scenarios that don't work for everyone anyway.

And were you using their standard uncapped account or were you paying more for the uncapped unshaped account?

Uncapped overall, unshaped up to your threshold (200GB).
