Announcement looks good :)

I will throw this in though: I have been a very happy customer since signing up with CW, with a few hiccups along the way. No other ISP has been as forthcoming as you have and I see plans thrown in to action, rather than the blame game (unless applicable).

I had misgivings about Cybersmart backbone and still do. When it works, fantastic. When it doesn't, oh boy then it really doesn't!

Good luck with migration, I hope to be using your C/C facilities soon :)

Thank you for the email, I like what you are planning. My only problem is if I will get migrated to the new network or not. With all the trouble I've been having, if I get stuck on the old one's poor performance I am gonna have to fight again and I hate fighting :(

Everyone will get migrated, just not in one big bang

The announcement was a little anti climactic. High on marketing speak and promises, low on technical details :)

This has been my first month trialing the service and unfortunately, I am as yet unconvinced. For my needs, the capped accounts do not perform like capped accounts at the moment. I can't get line speed on NNTP or HTTP downloads (the latter being ridiculously slow when trying to download Ubuntu updates etc) and while browsing and streaming is fast, my recurring problem with loading images is a nail in the coffin as far as making a decision goes.

I was hoping the announcement would include some more technical details as to how exactly your dual network would solve these issues, who your new provider was, if you'd secured additional capacity etc. From the sounds of it, the dynamic shaping you're promising in your email is exactly what the other ISPs already utilise to manage their bandwidth, so there was no revelation there. The dual network details would've been the meat of the announcement for me but they were not present.

Anyway, since I kept the account running past the 19th in order to see what this announcement would bring and experience the new system, there's still another month for me to change my mind. Good luck with the implementation of the new system and I hope it happens in time for me to test it out before the 19th rolls around again.

Haha. We will take your post into consideration (as an exception, as it's not how we will be doing this.)

Also, margins are not only on usage (we've been trying to convince the market about this for a while) - it's more about peak throughput.
When are the peak times?

Hi I have a question. If my ADSL line is with Crystalweb, can I still log a fault through Telkoms online fault report tool?

Interesting times ahead!
CW, just so I understand, does this mean that Fusion accounts are being merged into your new structure? Or is this a separate account that those on Fusion would need to "change" to?

Assuming we're automatically migrated, you've answered the question regarding whether I should get the digital or boxed version of GTA V :D

No auto migration - changed username as per the email.

Dynamic from the get-go. Going unshaped and essentially removing the heavy subsequent shaping is just not feasible.

But that doesn't mean Fusion is gone. In fact we've designed the new network with Fusion in mind to do the change if need be as well. We feel the best solution though is consistent performance rather than having a dichotomy of experiences.

I understand that, but was asking the question more with this answer in mind.

Oh I see what you mean.
AFAIK the fusion accounts will be these new style accounts, with prioritised streaming/realtime and then download traffic contending with itself for remaining bandwidth - or something along those lines.

Thanks :)

When time frame, have not seen the mail.

HowTo it was mentioned in a post here that we would be updated next week, when the migration starts.

Edit:
Will update that next week once the migration starts.

Im having issues streaming on my uncapped account today. Anyone know of any issues on the network atm?

Edit: Seems VOX is also having some issues - wonder if something is up at my exchange

I have to say that NNTP on my 10m line has been performing really well lately. Getting close to line speed most of the time. Just need gaming latencies fixed and I would be really happy.

Router can't seem to connect to account/internet with CW details, switch over to a backup everything is fine. :(

Edit: Page is loading now :D aaand account is now authenticated :D

OW douche-baggery hit an all time low, from sharing accounts to steal Crystal Webs fusion account idea....

Too little too late I'm afraid. OW dug their own graves long ago and no amount of copying (and adding a few more gigs to the FUP) is going to change that.
