Star Trek Online update going at 30KB/s, this is going to take awhile...

CW, please can you look into this. I know there's not a huge following or calling for this on your side, but I now change ISP's whenever I want to play, as I get random DC's, severe latency discrepancies and patching (both ingame and out) happens at a fraction of my linespeed - even when everything else appears to be behaving normally.

We completed some work early, so began a very small deployment today. Was a pretty random selection of early bird customers, and they are assisting to test various aspects. We will roll-out to more users over the coming days.

#leftoutinthecold
I kid... I imagine it was the early-birds with more testing capabilities than me :)

Looking forward to the change-over.

Don't think there's anything they can do about the cybersmart network for those single threaded downloads.. it's been a problem always.. and as soon as a game starts using more than ~30k/s the ping goes terrible and you get DC'd. I think best bet is to just hope that you get swapped to the new network soon.. and that the new network stays as good as it is now when everyone swaps over(?)

200ms constant ping to EU servers right now (Monday morning) and full line speed ~40mbit off international torrents (Monday morning too..) and ~10mbit single threaded downloads which is a big change from the cybersmart network which always gave terrible speeds for me on monday mornings

And kudos to crystalweb, if this keeps up you have by far the best ISP in the country :D

To clarify... I have a lot of faith in Crystal Web. I've never really had the support they give from the other ISP's I came from, so to say CW is a breath of fresh air is a fairly large understatement from my side.

As much as we (I) would like an ISP to have EVERY eventuality covered, things happen that are beyond any of our control.

STO just seems to be one of the bugbears.

Lol I'm sure the pressure is getting to them. CW has been very quiet today...

Busy today, is all.

Migration has started. Remember guys, it's a phased deployment, so as to minimise the impact of load testing by customers.

Could someone at least indicate what ISP the new accounts are with? I'm really not seeing the need for secrecy around this point, especially since you're already migrating people across.

Would also be really nice to have some technical details on how exactly the dual network is going to work.

We're the ISP, and the capacity is provisioned with the help of an unnamed backbone tier 1 provider. Current customers are trialing the network, and are not at liberty to disclose any technical information, including identifiable information.

Aah, well I'm glad to hear that actually, bodes far better for the final product.

been using the new account since yesterday and no complaints :)

Ok, my throughput seems to have dropped to rubbish on local and international!

Round about now would be a great time for me to become a tester lol...

Edit: To the point that I cannot even connect to the support widget on the website =/

Going to try a router reset.

Meh, got all excited when I saw a mail come in from CW, was a request for feedback on support :(
