Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

Just got another software upgrade. Changed for lock screen to the little lock icon that you drop to unlock the screen. It is cute. Glad we are getting OTA updates...really like it. Cant wait for ICS to come.

I can't seem to get OTA updates, when on WiFi it just stays "checking for updates" forever, and off it it just tells me it can'd do it at that time and to try again later?

That is strange. You using a Vodacom unit with a Vodacom sim in it? Maybe that makes a difference? My friend also got the OTA update last night...but I told her to do it at work when she has got wifi.

Yup VC with completely legit VC microsim too - I have had one OTA before soon after I got the phone, but now have this issue

VC razr with Cell C scissor-job micro sim, Just received update:D
The lock screen looks so much better without the 'grating' overlay. New icons and refreshed MotoCast, still not going to use it though. I'm using ADW Launcher and I don't know scientifically, but switching between pages in the app drawer seems faster.
Also, camera app beeps when focused
Second OTA since getting the phone, even though Moto lied about the bootloaders, at least the updates make me feel they care:)

Will the RAZR MAXX be available in SA soon? Really love the look of the RAZR but I want that extra battery life.

2G Network CDMA 800 / 1900
3G Network CDMA2000 1xEV-DO
4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 13

The Maxx is not a GSM device and wont work on our networks.

I am pretty happy with my RAZR's battery life. Would be cool to have that capacity ... but it really aint a deal breaker.

Oh man :( Had my heart set on a Maxx, I don't really dig that hump in the back of the normal Razr..

That is what makes it so special again for me. Gives it character and it is rather comfortable to put your index finger where it starts to curve up to the hump there when talking on the phone

I have even convinced my sister to go from her beloved Blackberry to the Moto RAZR. Just waiting for her money to come through and then she gonna take it. I did threaten her that if she dont go RAZR she will have to sleep with her door locked for the remainder of her natural life......BUT I dont think that had anything to do with it *grin*.

She absolutely LOVES the screen, the thinness and weight and she has fallen in love with swype as well. I believe her exact words was "Goeie ***....dit is fantasties!!!!"

See in the states they're offering it in sort of a plum colour now, wonder how well that's selling:
