Uncapped.
Account was running perfectly on Thurs/Friday, and the weekend as well (well mostly).. now it's down the tubes. actually, that's the wrong saying because nothing is going down my internet tubes.

I am really disappointed, I thought If I didn't abuse and stuck to downloading at night/weekends only, that my account would be good during normal hours.
I have a 4Mbit ADSL line but it's practically useless during the whole day, doesn't even give you 1mb speeds (And I'm talking about HTTP/Browsing, not P2P)

If it goes on like this I guess I'll have to sacrifice weekend downloading and go for a Telkom uncapped account (or maybe even a 50GB capped)

I would love an Openweb unshapped capped account, but they don't allow you to download as much as you want after hours - it's just that 50GB + 80GB or whatever rubbish. So telkom it is.

Still not happy though.
I understand if you throttle me on NNTP during the day, or even YouTube after I'm using it too long - but not every single protocol, EVERY single minute between 8:00am and 23:00... especially If I haven't downloaded anything all day long.

My experience was the same on the uncapped - I didn't abuse it and stuck to after 11 pm downloading and weekends. Http browsing must always work irregardless of how the shaping is setup as its general usage in my opinion. Sacrifice weekend downloads? Thats sacrilege:mad: I would die. I saw that normal weekends doesn't count towards late. One has to shop around with these ISP's ... they sure are sneaky. It seems they all have their strengths and weakness. Came from a 10 megabit Afrihoax account (business) just to get 10 kb downstream on downloads. Thats not on, neither is that browsing speed of yours - I reckon try your hand with support.

Yep, think I'm moving to Telkom rather. Big difference here, even after midnight.

I guess the person you're sharing the account with must be hammering it non stop :D :p

10Mb capped? Well in any case Telkom has a special scenario after midnight where shaping is reduced.
It depends when you do most downloads, but I would want some sort of speed during the day, if not always full speed. Shaping on weekends is just silly (Telkom uncapped for example). Also if you're in the Cape (pic of mountain on profile) then things are worse at present.

After midnight both accounts should be running full speed.
I'll do more midnight testing during the month but I think I'm pretty much done with OW now, the daytime speeds are just too slow for a 4Mbit line.
And if it only runs at 1mbit at night too, there is just absolutely no point.

Yeah it seemed to work great at first but it's horrible now. :sick:

It was like that at even 3AM!
 
So i cancelled on the 3rd Nov - I asked for the exact time it would cancelled.

They replied "end of November"

lets hope so
