OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Incorrect. People are fed up paying premium prices yet receiving the opposite in terms of service/ products.
South Africans in general are fed up at everything they paying too much of and receiving below par services.
I see nothing wrong with discrediting a ISP which once was number 1. Maybe they needed this bad publicity in order to fix their house!

It's easy to forget that at one point this was indeed the case. It's funny how things can turn around.

The note came by because of my complaints to the mods, actually. I complained that certain users were posting disruptively in such a manner that they made it impossible to have any form of discussion in these threads by drowning it out in a sea of low-quality posts. Warn people away from OpenWeb, by all means, but do so constructively. Drowning any form of discussion out in a cacophony of trolling noise (HEY HEY HEY) would not be allowed anywhere else on the forum and should not be allowed in this thread either.

Still have a small capped account with this ISP - Waiting for the 1 month notice period to be up...

Still getting 10Meg Speeds on a Capped Account with a 40 Meg Line.

Stay Away from OpenWeb.

Totally agree with you. But when some one recommends Crystalweb I want to puke to be honest. Their home capped accounts are no better nor is their star based uncapped accounts.

So people basically pointing people from one fire put to the other.... Then when they complain about that say wow omg you get what you pay for.....

Hate it to be honest.

I have had most openweb based accounts. Their cheap uncapped is absolute garbage and I won't recommend them for anyone. Their capped accounts are top class if you have a 10Mbps or lower line with unshaped access 24/7 and I tested it compared to a Crystalweb home capped account and the Openweb is the best by far.

I did not test the more expensive uncapped accounts @ Openweb or the more expensive capped and uncapped accounts @ Crystalweb so can't comment on that.

And so I will say to you what you keep on telling other people. "You get what you pay for" Maybe if you bought a more expensive unshaped account then you would have gotten a better service.... ;)

A friend has a 20 meg line with a 50 gig + unlimited capped account from Openweb, Tried it on my line, Same thing.

He says his speeds are also limited to 10mbps on his 20 meg line.

Have you taken it up with Openweb? I do remember that in the FAQ they did say up to 10Mbps but recently changed it to up to 40Mbps. You should totally take them on and say you want a account that runs on that speed.

I can't because I just got a 10Mbps but if I had a 20Mbps or even lucky enough to have a 40Mbps I would most likely not have used Openweb and stuck with Crystalweb or Webafrica.

That's appreciated. It's basically 2 or 3 trolls repeating themselves in the hopes of creating enough noise. Real OW users are entitled to interact with the provider

I'm not seeing the provider being very active in here? In fact, I don't see the provider on here at all.

Indeed. The others ISPs reps are still around although they take some serious beatings from posters from time to time. It's part and parcel of the industry and direct OPEN interaction with customers. Keoma, Athol and co. stopped posting after DJ asked some uncomfortable questions once again. People are free to post their positive or negative experiences with OW as they do which is evident in this thread. I see nothing wrong with helping people make an informed decision regarding their choice of ISP. What they do after that is normally written off as school fees.

If it looks like a lie, if it talks like a lie, if it walks like a lie... it must be ?

But people like lies :o

Nothing wrong with that indeed, but the issue is that many of the OpenWeb crowd are not actually content with leaving people to make their own decisions. Instead, if people choose not to heed their advice, they resort to trolling and disruptive posting so as to make any form of further discussion impossible. That's why I lodged a complaint with the mod team.

Just because some people hate OpenWeb with a passion does not give them the right to dictate how discussion of the ISP and its services are allowed to take place. This thread and all other ISP threads are still bound by the MyBB forum rules, last time I checked.

the provider and his shills turned tail and ran as soon as public opinion towards them shifted...

@ghostR Tested and confirmed that Openweb's capped unshaped accounts are now limited to 40Mbps and no longer 10Mbps like previously ;)

Agree. Why let a fellow forumite fall into a pit whilst we watch?
