I suggest reread the OP, unless of course you are a current OW customer ;)

I'm also on a capped account. I spoke to a senior technician and he says he sees errors on my line so it's either my modem or my line.

Edit: he said that my error log said i was losing sync but I'm pretty sure that's just me restarting my modem. My line sync light is solid wherever this happens.

You've been punk'd

Wow. How did you guys figure that out?

THE TRUTH ABOUT OPENWEB

1. All accounts get SHAPED and/or THROTTLED to death... Yet its clearly stated on their website you would never been THROTTLED. During the day my speed seldom exceed 40kbps on a 4mb account

http://businesstech.co.za/news/columns/57789/throttling-is-ridiculous-isp/

2. Only "ISP" that don't keep track of your usage, but LOTS of OW accounts are being SHARED. I got the proof of my account being shared

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=122933&d=1401832605

3. Access to http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/ & http://users.isdsl.net/ blocked and they are lying about usage stats when they are in fact correct and because it was too easy to see account sharing and correct usage, another lie

3. Resell IS, MTN etc products and thus don't need an office as most of their stuff are done by IS etc anyway. Its called "ISP in a Box". They buy "X" amount of gigs per month from IS, MTN etc and manage it as they see fit, thus the endless types of specials and account types.

4. Only got a handful of employees - Leon, Zelda, Leoni, Charmaine. Athol and Keoma the members of the CC.

5. They use various names - OpenISP, Openweb, Myopenweb etc.

6. Committed FRAUD with their CIPRO registration using a false address etc.

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=124739&d=1402495556

7. Not registered as an ISP with ISPA or ICASA.

https://www.icasa.org.za/Portals/0/Regulations/Licensees/Individual/I-ECS&ECNS-Database_0711.pdf

8. Incorrect Lindekin data.

http://www.linkedin.com/company/openweb.co.za

9. No ability to resolve account issues besides giving out other accounts which are already in use...

10. Blaming Telkom/router for everything yet accounts with other ISP's are working 100%

11. Constant account authentication issues...

12. Their MyBB accounts stopped responding the 9th of May.

13. "I'm afraid due to the destructive nature of the forum, we have suspended support here." The answer I got from OW about MyBB.

"Who is Keoma Wright?
Keoma Wright is a revolutionary IT mogul, radio enthusiast and entrepreneur who is also a born and bred South African citizen. He has achieved a great many firsts in South African web technology in the whirlwind twenty seven years of his life.

It all started with Keoma’s first love – radio. During the period 2003 to 2005, Keoma worked as a radio DJ on KwaZulu-Natal’s hottest jazz radio station, the former P4 radio. He also performed voice overs for many of South Africa’s national brands at this time." - keoma.co.za

Keoma would have started Openweb Radio but it did not materialized yet.

We all dream... but some live in a dream it seem...

On Wrightmedia.co.za he's Doctor K Wright...

Just stating all the known facts. Customers should know whom they deal with.

If you have anything higher than a 20Mbit line, don't go OW capped. As you can see it's getting limited to 20Mbit on my 40Mbit line.

Just a word of warning if anyone was considering it. (not that I expect many would, mind you :D )

Decided to test them out at the start of the Afrihost slump...I'd by lying if I said I didn't regret it. The worst thing of it all though, that bleeding portal.....can't wait to leave it behind.

had the same problem although my account was limited to 10mbps on my 40mbps line. Stay away!

+1 I don't suppose there's any shortcut to leaving them instead of paying for another month like there was when MWEB got bad? Eh, if there isn't then it's fine. I'll just have to pay for another month.

I cancelled last month so today is my last day.

Here is feedback which I regard as constructive and objective (and useful for OW if they wanted to improve):

The main problem from my experience is that the service simply doesn't work for a lot of the time and the situation has been getting worse. I get timeout error messages on Web browsing, emails, dropbox any time from early morning to midnight. When I change to an alternate provider, I get better service instantly. It is not practical to rely on Openweb to connect for any work or home use.

This is not related to usage history as sometimes I have logged in after several days of inactivity and experienced the problem immediately.

I have logged queries but normally only get a response after the intermittent congestion issues have passed (in which case it is too late).

I have sent traceroutes but have never had a direct response addressing the issues identified on the tracert. They show, for example, that the congestion is not on the telkom equipment.

Just signed up with openweb. Service ok at night but dead during the day. Web pages simply timeout, Have logged a ticket and called them - waiting for someone to phone me back. Poor experience so far.

Best advice would be to submit your cancellation asap.

I've just cancelled. This is my last post re Openweb.

I gave it my best shot but the service was worse than terrible. The worst was their trying to blame Telkom for the poor line (my experience with Axxess shows that the line is absolutely fine). They also tried to blame me for high usage. One didn't use the account for 3 days and still had the problem. I sent them traceroutes to show them where the choking was happening, which they never once addressed.

So in your opinion, would you say the Truth about Openweb thread is correct? http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/622747-The-truth-about-Openweb

Service cancelled, subject to the usual, 1 months notice period. This for a service they actually not delivering. :(

Tired of hitting refresh and googling these errors: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG
ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR..

Getting about 23.5Mbps on local speed tests and about 19Mbps on international (Germany) tests. It's about 23:30 on a Friday and I'm getting about 60-100 KBps on torrents on a 40meg line. This is disappointing. Luckily my service ends at the end of this month.

it's just a bit sad that you (helped) and signed up with an ISP that you knew were crooked.

Yeah. There were some guys on the forum at the time that I signed up saying that people should stop just hating and try their service because it's actually pretty good.

Another thing that makes it worse is that I'm on capped.
