OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread

However, during peak, we shape as the network gets very busy.

We will consider balancing the shaping out more - perhaps offering less unshaped access after hours, and more bandwidth during office hours.

We will look into this possibility.

I am still waiting for your PM to confirm whether you are an OpenWeb client, or a troll.

I am starting to wonder why i even bother to post in this thread.

Why the F would you shape anyone EVER to death at anytime. This thread is becoming a train wreck, a massive bloody disgrace on openwebs part.

If you have the MEANS to provide clients with usable internet, that they pay for: PROVIDE IT

End of story.

I am not talking torrents, I am not talking full speeds, I am not even talking about 1/2 the speeds. You provide 1/4 of the speed during peak and YOU MAKE DAMN SURE IT IS STABLE.

I also love how you are starting to call people trolls etc on this forum, this isn't proper conduct. It does not matter how the client acts, it is akin to serve rotten food (and that is your openweb serivce as of late) and then calling the customer names when they complain.

GET YOUR DAMN ACT TOGETHER

0.1Kb/s, unstable, unable to browse email or game. I don't care if the network is at 110% capacity, IF I PAY FOR IT I GET MY FAIR SHARE. There is no "Well you take what we give you" you give me what was advertised and you do so with gratitude that I pay your FING bills.

And it isn't area related at all, unless somehow someone made a portal between me in Sunninghill and the other complaints in Durban? This is obviously a shaper related issue, and you should look in on your own systems rather than getting clients to PM you and giving them the copy paste response.

At the moment my connection is fine, the shaper is off, of course it is. Come around 6am tomorrow? I predict we'll all be lucky to be moaning on these forums again.

Guaranteed, after 6am, for me around 7. It will die. Funny that while everyone was on holiday I had no issues

The username is one of the security questions we ask.

Once you answer the security question correctly, you are authorised to make changes to an account.

This is in place to protect our clients as well as OpenWeb from ever increasing fraud.

opened a ticket and told them i'm cancelling my account as of today.

then reply that i must send my username but call me by name...

oh its so funny. if they have my name they have my username. its stalling tactics by an awful company.

took up this issue up with a CPA lawyer earlier and he said that you pay for a service, so if there's no service theres no need to pay. in this case your paying in advance so your entitled to a refund as theres no service. uncapped is a 24 hour service not only after hours.

My connection is running 100%.

Of course I do not pull the ring out of my connection during the day as I know I am using a shaped account.

Have fun at your new ISP's, all I can tell you is that most of the guys on the other isps are moaning right now because they are STILL shaped. Poor sods.

Well I have noticed that IS based accounts shape no matter the traffic. I do not use Openweb but I have noticed it with other IS accounts that to me they shape all traffic. You might find that p2p and hhtp download or browsing gives the same speed.

You may find that for example with telkom that they allow full speed http and usenet 24/7 no matter the network congestion but they basically limit p2p to nothing 24/7

So I guess each account/isp/backbone has its advantage and disadvantage... :o

Does OW run it's own IPC?

Here's the traceroute from an MWeb account...I don't think it's an IS/Telkom issue:

this show that theres a serious fault on your side.

had telkom telsted my line and its 100%.

also had cybersmart test my line and its also 100%.

It still means there is something fault with the routing between Telkom and IS and it is at a Telkom endpoint.

We have no control over your internal hardware.

Any issues that arise on hop 1 to and (sometimes) 3 cannot be an OpenWeb fault.
