I have zero issues on my little IS 384 thingy... everything chugging along merrily. Nearly 6 months of hassle-free ADSL.

Me happy.

Hey MrBEEP, no problems. New account is worked fine this weekend. Will test during the week for work purposes. I notice WA has high ping in comparison to Altech / VB. Is this normal? Was on average around 33 / 38ms to Joburg from PMB, now at +/- 60ms to Durban, which is much closer. Thanks

that's normal webafrica data centre is in cape town, you are probably not in capetown :P
 
I've been very satisfied with my 1MB Gold Uncapped account and even my brother who plays games says that his ping is excellent.
The only thing I'm not that happy with is the shaping of Megaupload. I think I'm on BCS (BSC?) and the dl speeds are around 2kbps.

Is this something I'll just have to live with? Are any of the other backbones less shaped in terms of Megaupload? I use them quite a bit because they don't use that horrible Recaptcha.

Try again after hours. Unfortunately all backbones shape one click hosting sites badly. Either that or learn to torrent(Just learn to seed as well if you do :)).
 
Anyone know what the difference would be between OpenWeb WA backbone and going direct with WA? Maybe MrBEEP? there is a price difference, so just wondering if through OW it becomes unshaped under GOLD? Thanks
 
Gold uncapped remains a shaped package, and during busy network periods, heavy download protocols will be shaped. Gold uncapped offers superior access compared to our Standard Uncapped products. If you are experiencing a problem, please email me so that I can be resolved / so that we can move you to a different backbone.

No hassles at all MrBEEP, just enquiring about the 2 product similarities or differences.

Ja it's just that the shaping seems ridiculously excessive (slower than 56k at all times). I know how to torrent but I don't download that heavily - just occasional files and MU is generally the best and most frequently used by uploaders.

Anyways, I was just wondering.

Well on the VB backbone I get really good speeds on MU, so if there are some VB accounts available, test one out and see if it's also good for you on MU. :)
 
Well, two which I've had no access to so far is Facebook and TesNexus.com. Gamespot started working again last night, oddly enough.
