I do apologize for the email. Our new CP will indeed be an improvement as we are introducing SMS notifications as well, which will eliminate the uncertainty of Email delivery.

I checked again, no such email was received. My friend also did not receive notification of this change.

Very disappointed again.

1. Each service level has its own shaping rules. For Example, Gold is shaped on downloads only during office hours and unshaped after hours.

Can you elaborate on "downloads" ? We do not make use of any p2p/file sharing sites, all our traffic is standard http, ssh, etc; but we do download the usual kinds of material and to an extent, video streaming sites. It's going to be unfortunate if the shaping of http downloads / surfing is shaped during office hours. Thus far since the switch I've noticed a reduction in speed and latency.

If standard http downloads are shaped to the point where server updates are slow, email attachments from Gmail and so on are unreasonably slow then we will have to reconsider.

Thanks for your time and the reply.

Downloads would be your heavy protocols, and will only be shaped if the network is busy.

The protocols you describe will not be subject to shaping.

If you are experiencing a problem, please email me [email protected] so that I can take a look for you. The network is running smoothly, thus you should not be experiencing issues.

There seems to be some issues on OW IS since yesterday - I can't complete a traceroute to Google.com or even a Telkom router (196.25.1.1)

No problems on my home Mweb account though.

MrBEEP,

I am experiencing endless performance problems with my Openweb GOLD uncapped account (1MB).

Every week I submit a problem ticket and I get a new account on maybe a different backbone, sometimes not.
Although the account tends to perform as would be expected of the GOLD account for the first day, it invariably bogs down again to dismal throughputs. And I am referring to after-hours and weekends to counter the smart-asses. ;-)

My area has recently been upgraded by Telkom so that I can connect at higher speeds - previously could only connect at 1MB - and now I find myself undecided to continue with a supposed premium account that is so unreliable.

I am also in the Dirtbin area, but this is unrelated..

My Sharks have disappointed today, so I am hoping for some good news and prospects.

Before I upgrade my Telkom ADSL line, I need to have this issue bedded down.

I have had 4 different openweb accounts over a period of 3 months now.

I'd like some reliability and stability for a bit now...

Getting pretty terrible speeds - mostly under 15k/s with a few exceptions. OW 1mb Silver, Cape Town.

Started doing this last night, 10:30 maybe 11pm.

Hi coralsea,

Your problem was related to your Telkom port. I have requested a reset, pending confirmation from you the the issues has been resolved

200kBits/s on a 1MBps account !!!!

I just did a speedtest on my 1 MBps Openweb Uncapped account.

Download speed of only 200 kBits/s !!!

What is going on?

:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Must be a fluke.

Ah, 180KB/s only during office hours on an http download. Getting the latest ClearOS iso. I hope this is not a reflection of IS daytime speeds.
