Your next post will likely be with your new fibre line and include speedtests etc.

Jonas arrived just past 9 as promised and got straight to it. They seemed to be not getting a connection though. So they drove all over the neighbourhood and eventually found the problem at the exchange and rectified it. They just left and the lights are all green on the huawei device. Now i just have to phone webafrica and get the login details etc. So close i can almost taste it now....

You are lucky. I've been waiting 6+ weeks to see that green light on my ONT (and it is still flashing red).

Congrats! Post a speedtest...

Anybody got a direct number to webafricas fibre backoffice? I just want my login details but its proving to be a bit difficult. Webafricas call transfer keeps dropping me when they try to transfer me there. Spoke to reception and she said she will forward the details to the backoffice and they will email me the details. Its almost 2 hours later and hevent recieved an email yet

Yes, Speedtest as soon as you get going please. I'm very keen to see whether you get 25% or 50% as an upload speed, because according to WebAfrica :

<quote>
"As per Openserve/Telkom there are no new customers that have a faster [50%] uplink speed and any information you have received would be false."

I'm not sure if she's still with WA, but try mailing Nicola Grebe at nicola.grebe@webafrica.com. Back when I was trying to get going with WA she was pretty good at making that type of thing happen ...

All new installs are 50%. My tech said they are trial testing a new speed entry, 400/200, and 1Gb if it's viable. Just trying to find out what works out economically for them. The speed will most likely only be introduced after the next 1-3 IPC price cuts.

I have a colleague who installed couple of weeks ago. Through Mweb. He gets 40 down and 20 up.

Ok so webafrica never sent me my details. Ill probably have to wait for their pre configured router to come instead of trying to squeeze the details out of them.

Why not use the free Afrihost 1GB to connect for now to see if that works.

Errrm sorry for being such a knob but i have searched and can only find 1gb trial accounts for DSL and not for fibre. Can you maybe throw me a link there for the trial fibre account please?
