Voelvlei is increasing steadily via inflow from the Little Berg River catchment (Tulbagh Ceres), up 3.1% in 3 days, from 72.7% on Mon 3rd to 75.8% on Thurs 6th. The total inflow (all the dams) during the last 3 days has been 1.5% of total capacity (65.9% to 67.4%).
 
I think God just dumped 10 years worth of rain over Cape Town RIGHT now

Snow depth now confirmed at 7 cm, preceded by 18 mm of rain. The most snow in living memory on the farm.

We even had a cloudburst over our remote town yesterday morning, rainbows crashing all around, yet it poured for a good ten minutes...... this was not on my forecast....

My analysis indicated a very good chance of you getting rain, but none of the expert sites showed any likelihood. Hence I kept my opinion to myself. Must have been something to experience!
 
The SAWS reports very heavy rain from the cutoff-low over parts of the Garden Route during the 24 hours to 8am on Sat 8th: http://www.weathersa.co.za/media/data/climate/nr_daily_rai.pdf

Highest include Tsitsikamma 165mm, Joubertina (EC) 163mm, Plettenbergbaai 95mm, Knysna 85mm, etc.

Snow has closed part of the Lootsberg Pass between Middelburg and Graaff-Reinet, and the Wapadsberg Pass between Cradock and Graaff-Reinet on Saturday, the Eastern Cape traffic spokesperson said.

There is still quite a lot of lingering cloud around, but this morning's (false colour) satellite image shows widespread snow across much of the southern high ground of South Africa:

One more front like the last one should just about remove all reason for the restrictions! And there is one on the way!
