There are quite a few low level bridges over the Hennops river that are regularly under water in the rainy season. Then close to us, the Moreleta Spruit also floods quite often. There is also the tributary of the spruit that runs through Silverlakes where owners of property have found out the hard way why you don't build in a flood plain.
 
Hot and dry few days ahead (temps set to hit 32 on Monday). I think it's safe to say that Summer is here.

Strong winds whipping the Western Cape blew a truck over in Klawer on Saturday morning, provincial traffic officials confirmed.

Traffic chief Kenny Africa said a truck overturned on the N7, leaving only half a lane open.

No one was injured in the incident.

In the video, the truck can be seen swerving along the road as the driver attempts to keep control of the large vehicle.

at the Huguenot tunnel, strong winds of between 98 km/h and 120kph have been recorded.

We had a sandstorm here on the Southern Namib Coast..... it emanated from the Northern Cape , across the river.....depositing a fine red dust over the entire town, it is still hanging over the place and the sky actually looks red/beige towards SA!
 
Some forecasts (including SAWS aviation) are predicting thunderstorms for Cape Town this evening (Mon 22nd). It may or may not happen, just saying...

I noticed some cumulonimbus clouds over the Atlantic coast toward Table Mountain this morning which was odd.

Those clouds extend all the way up to me here in Namibia...... Been grey the entire day, very much like up country weather, we even had thunder a few hours back and a couple of drops of rain!
This weather system is moving in from the north from Namibia. I suppose it's been extremely hot there too?
 
Which is the most reliable forecast site to use for weather. I've been on 5 now and tomorrow's temp for CT varies between 25C and 36C...WTF?

Temperatures around Cape Town vary with wind direction, and distance from the ocean. No single forecast can possibly cover all locations. Yr.no has relatively detailed selections.

Edit: A glance at a map of the Cape Peninsula should instantly show you why this is is so:

I understand and know this..I've lived here in all my life.
So I know that Milnerton and Brackenfell and Paarl will have huge differences in temperature on any single day, based on the impact of the ocean, micro climate, wind etc.

What I was referring to is the fact that when you do a weather/temp search for Cape Town, it is based on the weather station at CT International Airport (as far as I know).
These are the temperatures that are showing variances of 25C to 36C on a specific day on different weather websites.

Many forecasts nowadays are for the Cape Town CBD (or Waterfront), not the airport weather station. There are several computer models, and some are sufficiently detailed that they can differentiate between the two, but you may not know which until you look at the track record. I always look at the SAWS aviation forecast, since that is for a specific location (and I can do my own interpretations from that).

There are significant technical challenges in extrapolating from one of the (several) gridded 3D weather model to a specific location, and each prediction you see will have different biases. In addition there are often random variations (hard to get below 2-3C) depending on wind direction during a fickle weather event.

Edit: You get what you pay for (on the internet or TV), all of the forecasts you see are 'free' and designed for a large group of people. There are meteorologists who can produce a custom output just for you, and it may be slightly more accurate overall, but not worthwhile unless you have thousands of bucks at stake. In principle every forecast should show a range of probabilities, but this is hard to convey, and might be even more confusing.

Thus, output from NWP models can be transformed by the MOS technique into sensible weather parameters that are familiar to the "person on the street".

Output directly from the NWP model's lowest layer(s) generally is not used by forecasters because the actual physical processes that occur within the Earth's boundary layer are crudely approximated in the model (i.e., physical parameterizations) along with its relatively coarse horizontal resolution. Because of this lack of fidelity and its imperfect initial state, forecasts of near-surface quantities obtained directly from the model are subject to systematic (bias) and random model errors, which tend to grow with time.

In the development of MOS equations, past observations and archived NWP model forecast fields are used with a screening regression to determine the 'best' predictors and their coefficients for a particular predictand and forecast time. By using archived model forecast output along with verifying surface observations, the resulting equations implicitly take into account physical effects and processes which the underlying numerical weather prediction model cannot explicitly resolve, resulting in much better forecasts of sensible weather quantities.
